I open up the new issue of The Advocate (4/10 cover story: WHO'S GAYER? They're politically correct on gay issues. But what do Barack and Hillary really think of us?) to spy the following teaser for a story on advocate.com:

WILL LT. GAETA COME OUT?
Since season 1, the writers of Sci Fi's Battlestar Galactica have been dropping hints that Lt. Felix Gaeta (Alessandro Juliani) might be gay. Is this the season he publicly embraces his sexual orientation?

I couldn't find the story on the website, which is really irritating. Because seriously, what hints? Unless we're just talking about the fact that he can be soft-spoken and wears a lot of gel in his hair. I think [livejournal.com profile] johnnybvo and I have joked about it, but I'm hardpressed to point to anything in particular that the writers have done (besides making him the only male regular not involved with any of the female regulars) that should "hint" to us that Gaeta is homosexual. Also, I guess no one told the writers at The Advocate that the third season ended this past weekend. Whoops. Guess you'll be holding your breath til 2008, guys.

I've decided BSG and I are undergoing another temporary separation. When the show started to get to me last season, I'd stop watching for a month or so at a time and then catch up, and it's just easier than tuning in week after week and being left disappointed/irritated/crotchety.

That being the case, I have a free hour for a drama again, so I'm thinking of catching back up with 24, which I haven't watched since the season premiere. I think there are a couple of you still watching - how is it so far? Good? Or has Day 6 been ridiculous and not in a fun way?

Mulder traces troubles to '04 season with A's. Well, sorry, Billy. I tried to talk [Bad username or site: rickenbacker / @ livejournal.com] out of killing you, but then Mark went and opened his mouth. I try not to pay too much attention to the words that come out of that boy, because he strikes me as one for self-delusion. And I'm not just saying that because he married a woman. I hardly know what to make of any of his recent comments about his pitching problems. I'm not really sure why this is coming up again after the Cards have insisted Mark wasn't "damaged goods" when they traded for him.

Brandon and Lidge crack me up.

Also, Freddi Gonzalez kinda looks like Garth Brooks with the facial hair, and it's freaking me out. Nice try, guys, but I'm still not rooting for you this year.

eta: Among the players sporting new looks at the start of camp is right-hander Dan Haren, wearing a thick beard. Closer Huston Street arrived with long, thick sideburns that immediately got him a razzing from general manager Billy Beane. - It amuses me that the Cali papers find this kind of stuff merits a mention.

Good news! Sci-Fi has ordered a fourth season of BSG, with an estimated premiere date of Jan. 2008.

Better news! It's a THIRTEEN EPISODE ORDER.

I'd been wondering how realistic it was to hope and pray that the show would move back to a shorter season. I can't express how happy this makes me. I loved my show so much more before the painful filler eps, and I loved the characters so much more when their storylines weren't being strung out and stretched beyond my capacity to give a shit.

There's a link to a TV Guide blurb about the extension floating around. The blurb contains what I think most would consider a spoiler, so don't click it if you're wanting to stay spoiler-free about upcoming developments.

So the end of that football game was kind of exciting. You know, from what I could parse of developments as the lead kept changing. Congrats to your boy, [Bad username or site: johnnybvo / @ livejournal.com]. I don't think I can jinx in football, because I'm not invested ^_~

Also, Jered Weaver totally wins the Being Genuinely Enthused For Your Older Brother's Redemption award over Eli Manning. What the hell.

I hope Kara spoilers for last night )

New 24 tonight. Only week two...and I don't really care. That was quick.

eta: They're doing it again! >:[

Seriously, baseball, stop trying to be so damn relevant to other sports fans all the time. I accept you and love you for what you are, you really don't need to be trying to emphasize your parallels to fucking soccer and football.

SI listed the best games of 2006 and a handful of baseball games made the cut. NOT the terrifically fun OAK-LAD 17 inning matchup, incredibly, but that 12 hour marathon game between the Sox and Yanks, as well as a couple of last season's 18 inning NL games are on the list. And of course NYY's crazy comeback against the Rangers. NLCS Game 7 was the only postseason game to rank. The baby fish were also featured, courtesy of Anibal's no hitter :) Still, Huston did not blow a single one of those games, so that list is hella lacking and fundamentally flawed. (There was one Brad Lidge blown save, though. ♥)

EW ranked BSG the third best drama on television this past year, behind only The Wire and Friday Night Lights. And, damn, I've known for a couple years now that I should be watching The Wire, but I guess [Bad username or site: acroarcs / @ livejournal.com] really is onto something with FNL. TV Guide ranked BSG #1 and FNL #2, and The Wire didn't even make their top 10 or honorable mentions. But Deadwood did. ♥. 24 and The Office made both lists - validation, yay. BSG, The Office, The Wire, Heroes, FNL, and 24 also all made AFI's list of ten best '06 shows.

Of course, the AFI voted Happy Feet and Little Miss Sunshine onto their list of the ten best films of '06, so. You can't win 'em all.

God, I love baseball - I dreamt last night that the A's traded Bobby to the Brewers (what?) and that the Mets announced they were pulling out of the Zito clusterfuck. Woke up to the news that the Rangers have given Barry Zito an ultimatum. They want a response on their contract offer by this weekend. That seems like a bad move on the Rangers' part, considering that the Yankees allegedly want to jump into the mix, provided they can unload Randy Johnson soon. It's one thing for the Mets to say this is our offer and we're not gonna change it. It's another for the RANGERS to be trying to get all mafioso and shit. I mean, I understand their not wanting to be used...but they are the TEXAS FUCKING RANGERS. What did they think they were being pulled into this thing for? They are like the Orioles, but with an owner who writes blank checks. Supposedly if Zito doesn't accept the ~$102M/six year offer, they're pulling it off the table. Hee. Good. Because it was just gonna be embarrassing when he signed with the Mets for a shitload less. And I love how the GM said their offer will change considerably if Zito doesn't sign now. Because obviously, if he wasn't going to sign with you for $100M, he could always realize the error of his ways in a couple weeks and sign with you for WAY LESS. Morons. It took them this long to figure out Boras was using them to try and drive up the asking price? Sure, over$$$$ worked with A-Rod, but I guess they think everyone missed how that has played out for him in the long run.

I read elsewhere that Mark's decision is down to the Rangers and the Cards (ahahaha! THANK YOU FOR FUCKING OFF, ARIZONA) which I hope against hope is a nobrainer for him, no matter how much the Rangers offered him. Come on, Markus. You've got a lovely wife, with a good name. Impossibly long legs and the tiniest hips in all of sports. Great hair. A World Series ring. Memories of a sun-drenched honeymoon to last you til the divorce a lifetime, and probably a pair of twin little Markuses on the way. Playing for the Texas Rangers does not complete this picture. Well, unless they guaranteed you two years at 20 million or something.

eta: Interesting. Bet at least half of those names leak in the next year. So that should be fun times.

[Bad username or site: trailer_spot / @ livejournal.com]'s most recent post has links to a full trailer for Transformers and the first teaser for Ocean's 13.

As for Transformers....huh. Way to be like a million times less campy than I was expecting. I don't know how I feel about that, to tell you the truth. I was getting Terminator 2 vibes the whole time. Maybe once we get footage of them speaking (THEY WILL TALK, RIGHT?) I'll warm up to it some. (butomgagentaaron!♥)

And as for Ocean's 13, well I want to be annoyed that they might just keep making progressively crappier sequels to one of my favorite movies FOREVER...

but )

If I said I wasn't so there, I'd be a liar.

Caught up on BSG earlier. I am just so ready for Kara to die. And I hate that, especially since the writers keep focusing storylines on her tired ass. I was never a big Starbuck fan, but at least I could stand her in the first season. Even respected her some. Now I just want her to. Not be alive. Anymore.

That show needs like five times more Sharon.
Boyz II Men have done this album of 70s/80s covers? And it's like, crazy pointless. Which makes me sad. Consider, if you will, their cover of Al Green's Let's Stay Together. See what I mean? Sad.

LIKE BATTLESTAR GALACTICA. Which I only saw bits and pieces of between the innings of the ballgame on Friday. I tried dling this morning but holy crap the torrents were crawling, so I gave up. But I saw enough of the beginning and the end to be depressed and kinda happy, but mostly depressed. Will try the torrents again in a little while.

There's been some talk in recent days about how the Cardinals are amendable to bringing Mark Mulder back. But I hadn't really heard anything out of his camp on it, though I was hoping. And then [Bad username or site: rickenbacker / @ livejournal.com] found the following:

La Russa said they want to bring Mark Mulder back. He told us something neat about Mulder. La Russa said, "Mark told me the fans of St. Louis never saw the real Mark Mulder. He wants to show them the real Mulder." So yes it sounds as if the team and Mulder are interested in working out a deal to keep him here as he rehabs the shoulder.

Briiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiilliant. I had a feeling he would be too lazy to uproot again for just a season or two, and now with the championship I'm feeling pretty good about him staying put. So I only have to worry about Zito going to some fucking team I have no desire to get interested in and learn about. Apparently around the ASG is when most people are targeting Mulder to be ready to pitch again, but it would be super awesome if he were in pitching form by the Oakland series in June. Because, yes.

I have this friend who, I guess, thinks talking like a 5 year old is cute. Sometimes, I want to kick her in the head. But we went to 7-11 today and she bought me a pumpkin cheesecake latte. ♥ So I resisted the impulse.

Apropos of nothing - I don't get how Pico De Gallo is a salsa, really. It seems to me like it's essentially a tomato salad? And that's how I eat it.

Finally sat down to BSG - I really feel like such a fool for carrying on like I did after the finale. All MY SHOW IS DEAD and such. The BSG creative bunch have carte blanche with me from now on. I'm so excited for this season! I was going to do a reaction post, but I realized it would pretty much be just me going "I loved this a lot a lot!" and nothing much more than that, so I'll spare you. (But that's more me and it's definitely not that the show's lacking in the discussion fodder department given all the parallels to current events and all.)

My one complaint would be more Helo (give him something to do already!), less Lee, plz. Man, I miss the days when I was invested in Lee and the dynamic between him and his father. EJO is good, but that only makes me care when he's on screen.

This Brodie Brazil footage of the A's celebration has been making the rounds on my f-list (thanks [Bad username or site: spluckle / @ livejournal.com]!). I know some people have trouble with quicktime so I used a trial converter and here it is in wmv. The free trial was 5 minutes of encoding and the Brazil footage is 5:06 long, so you miss out on the last few seconds, but it's just someone I can't make out spraying the room with champagne as the clip ends. I trust you'll live. I would just like to point out that champagne really brings out Dan Haren's eyes.

My dad, dork that he is, called me after the Yanks were eliminated yesterday. Because the weather was so crap, I only just got a signal and the voicemail. He's hooting and hollering and apparently, he's never been so happy in his life because the Yanks ARE DONE. **laughs** And people wonder where I get it from.

Is anyone else having issues with the LJ timestamp? It keeps trying to catapult me several hours into the future.

1. My download of BSG 3.01 is done but my download of 3.02 is craaaaaawling. **laughs** So cruel! And yet, I deserve little less, I suppose, than to sweat over this a bit. I'm such a bad, bad fan to such a good, good show.

2. Barry's update last night kinda killed me where I live. I thought I was done where he started talking about what it meant to him, seeing Dan on the mound for them in this game. And then he mentioned feeling the absence of Mark and Huddy and my God. I'm not a stone. All I can say, and keep saying, is that I am so, so, so excited for this team, and I'm so, so happy for those of you who have been following the A's for more than 5 minutes. I honestly feel like my face might crack in half soon, I cannot stop smiling to myself, and if seeing them advance has turned me into some kind of human helium balloon, I can't even imagine what the rest of you must be feeling. After hearing about Buck, I was kinda brought back to earth for a little while but mostly I was up until 5:30 this morning just being ridiculously happy about the Tigers and the A's winning last night.

3. I know a couple people weren't able to see the Twins-Oak game yesterday, so I ripped some clips. The first three are asf, the rest should be wmv. I've tested a few of them and they worked fine so I didn't test all of them. Lemme know if you have problems, so I can take the file down. The story so far... )

The Killers were in Baltimore today with the Virgin Music Festival. As were the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Thievery Corporation, and The Flaming Lips, among others. Tickets were $97.50, and I still really wanted to go, so I'm glad my mom gave me a reason to get out of the state.

I am in crazy love with the video for When You Were Young; just 'cause. Another remix for the taking: The Killers - When You Were Young (The Lindbergh Palace Mix)

'Galactica': the best tv drama you've never seen. The first paragraph contains minor spoilers for the third season, as does the second paragraph on the 5th page. "We approach season 3 with nothing but terror, insecurity, and sheer liquid horror that we're going to screw it up if we're not really, really careful. . . .That's our mantra: Don't screw it up."

I find that comforting. I'm glad they worry.

The A's failed to clinch today. [Bad username or site: rickenbacker / @ livejournal.com] says Dan better pitch a 90 minute shutout or she'll have to miss her flight. I've got $5 that says Bri's sleeping in the airport ^_~

The Cardinals apparently cannot win a game to save their lives. Should be an interesting night of Sunday Night Baseball...a game I actually want to see, for the first time in months.

Today's Marlins/Phillies game was...not fun. Scotty pitches tomorrow, but I think I'm gonna be driving and won't get to watch. Btw, I'm glad Joe's saying he won't quit, because I want Loria to have to fire him. Not that Loria seems at all averse to bad press.

The pumpkin pie ripple ice cream at Bruster's? A biiiiiiit much.

eta: Also, that whole Nick Johnson thing? :( How awful. Totally had me flashing back to B-Rob's injury in New York last season.
+ I finally stopped being anti and watched the BSG season 3 preview both [Bad username or site: sdwolfpup / @ livejournal.com] and [Bad username or site: roxybritain / @ livejournal.com] had such a positive reaction to.

excuse me while I dork out )

[Bad username or site: johnnybvo / @ livejournal.com] mentioned that SG-1 was back. It's kinda funny to me to remember how excited I was for Ben and Claudia to be joining the cast (CB's a fulltime cast member starting this season) and on tv again; besides a stretch of eps early last year, they haven't brought me back to the show at all. Oh, SG-1. We'll always have Paris those first four seasons.

+ Last week at work, and my last week in Virginia til I go back to school. PTL.

+ Watched the screener pilot for Heroes. quick reaction, spoilers )

+ The trailer for The Pursuit of Happyness gets me all verklempt, because I am so easily manipulated. I hate when Will Smith cries! It has the same effect on me as when SMG cries. Feels like a kick to my gut.

eta: Wow, there was no baseball in this post. So. Um. Here -> have an article on Scotty Olsen's anger issues. Another Marlin who doesn't seem to have a dad in the picture, I note. His mom sounds neat.

Olsen remains close to his teammates, especially pitchers Josh Johnson and Randy Messenger. It was Messenger who punched Olsen in the eye during a night on the town after a tough loss in St. Petersburg.

"Stupid things friends do," Messenger said, laughing off the incident.

Uh huh. Marlins are back in third, btw, courtesy Philly's loss last night to Atlanta. Game and a half behind the suddenly hot and not so worthy of my pity Braves, and the two teams meet tonight :O Depending on how this series goes (and the next, obviously), I might get to see them win #50 in Philly. That would be kinda nifty.

Battlestar Galactica: Simpsons-style.

Ten kinds of awesome. I think the Roslin/Adama and the Billy/Dee/Lee images are my favorites. And Sharon with baby toaster. Okay, I just love them all.

eta: btw, for those who are interested to know, I ended up going with tickets to Roy O's start, behind the Nats dugout. Which is on the third base side, for some reason. That's weird right? I feel like the home dugout is supposed to be on the first base side. [Bad username or site: acroarcs / @ livejournal.com], is there some story behind that?

[Bad username or site: acroarcs / @ livejournal.com] posted about this last night, and then [Bad username or site: johnnybvo / @ livejournal.com] emailed me about it this morning, and I do so love when my people keep me informed :P I am SO EXCITED ABOUT THIS. I cannot express to you how jazzed I am. I have been trying to see the silver lining but I was pretty ambivalent about the new premise of BSG going into next season. Caprica on the other hand? Sounds right up my alley. Man alive, I am so excited. I am probably too excited. Calming down...now. I'm just really happy to have a fallback if me and BSG don't work out, is all.

+ USA Today already has Ken Macha on a short list of managers that stand to be fired if their clubs don't get it together soon. I don't really see it, but I've been paying attention to West Coast baseball for all of 10 minutes, so what do I know. The image of Lou Pinella as A's manager is kinda cracking me up over here.

+ Very anxious to hear the word on Mr. Harden's MRI.

+ "It's real big," Helms said. "Especially with a young team like this. You can just see the atmosphere in the clubhouse when you win. The guys are so happy."-- Florida leaves Chicago hanging. **snickers** See that? Winning makes them happy! Other teams should stop coming back and taking wins away from them. That's not buddies.

Joe didn't fly home with the team after the game; he's spending the off-day with his father, because "you never know when it might be the last time." ♥ Also. Um, that's kind of morbid, Joe.

Sophomore Year - ESPN.com spends an offday with Nick Swisher. I think that's Blanton on the couch in the one shot, but no Huston. Suspiiiiiicious :P So this is the place he's sharing with Blanton and Street? Guess they decided against keeping the ranch joint.

+ [Bad username or site: acroarcs / @ livejournal.com], remember how you asked if that bit of suck in the second season of BSG lasted til the end or if it was just a stretch? I can happily say it was mostly just that stretch of about 4 eps. I finally sat down to watch 2x18 yesterday, and I loved it. I'm glad; I hate being down on one of the best shows on television. Caught the first half of the season finale as well, and will try to watch the second part today.

+ Saw Panic! At The Disco's cd on sale for $8, so I bought it, since I've downloaded and liked something like 10 of the 13 songs on the cd. I also bought the re-released version of Mariah's cd, because they added 4 tracks, and I kinda like her stuff again. Ahem. So. Yes. I suspect this will last only as long as I continue to not see any of her new videos or other tv appearances.

Speaking of, btw, my brother says that if he were the guy in the Intel commercial, he'd tell "that hippo" to get off his lap. >.> So. I'm guessing eating disorders aren't going anywhere any time soon.

+ Fall Out Boy apparently re-released From Under The Cork Tree with two remixes of Dance, Dance and two new tracks. Having actually bought that cd when it first came out, I'm not buying that shit again. I already have the remixes of Dance, Dance anyway, so I'll just have to dl the two new tracks. NICE TRY, GUYS.

+ I've been feeling all soulful and shit of late. So, music!

22 tracks - Otis Redding, Nina Simone, The Impressions, assorted Motown artists )
+ No matter how many times I saw the trailer yesterday, I could not comprehend this Snakes on a Plane thing. And then [Bad username or site: scornedsaint / @ livejournal.com] informs me that Samuel L. Jackson never even read the script for it, he just jumped on the title. Which makes as much sense as anything else about this movie. And how is it that I never heard word one about this movie until yesterday? And then everyone and their mother was posting about it?

(Oh, looks like YouTube has killed that video of the trailer. [Bad username or site: trailer_spot / @ livejournal.com] has other links to the trailer in his most recent post.)

+ MOVING ON. Taped Doctor Who last night! I've heard nothing but good things. I remember [Bad username or site: scifigirl / @ livejournal.com] being hella jazzed about this show last year. I missed the first 15 minutes, but I imagine I will be okay. But who knows, with British things ^_~ I had something of a burgeoning crush on Christopher Eccleston after Revengers Tragedy and 28 Days Later, but it was kind of waylaid by other things. Look forward to watching.

Btw, I somehow completely missed that the third season of BSG wasn't slated to start up until October. What the fuck. I suppose if I could managed to survive the ridiculous break taken by Deadwood, I can survive this. But still. Annoying.

+ WBC semis today. Cuba v. DR @ 3pm EST, and Korea v. Japan (Round III) @ 10pm EST. I am hella excited.

There have been several good articles in recent days about Team USA's exit from the World Baseball Classic. I especially like Ken Rosenthal's characterization of where they went wrong: The United States players were the naturally gifted students, thinking they could ace their final exam without studying. Their World Baseball Classic opponents were the kids who pulled a series of all-nighters, terrified they might fail. (Snurched from [Bad username or site: angisageek / @ livejournal.com].)

A-Rod's quoted in the piece as suggesting it would make sense for Team USA to start training together as of the first of February the next time the competition rolls around. I don't necessarily know that the team needs to start training together earlier; I just think guys that step to the plate to participate in this thing need to start working on getting back into form a lot earlier than the middle of February. "I just think if you're going to make the commitment . . ." Rodriguez said, stopping in mid-sentence. "Three weeks ago, everyone said it was an exhibition. Now it's like the World Series because we lost. When you put "United States" on the uniform, the ramifications are big."

Well...yeah. Says Jones: "I would give anything to be able to have another opportunity to play in this tournament." Shoulda, woulda, coulda, pal. And Chipper was actually one of the few guys on the team that came up big, production-wise.

The BBC article on the US loss is kinda funny. The teaser was: The Americans exit the World Baseball Classic at the second group stage with a humiliating 2-1 defeat to Mexico. lol, wow. Humiliating? Embarrassing, yes. But humilating? It's not like the boys got mercy-ruled. That would have been humilating.

Oh and just because: "Empty. Just empty," reliever Huston Street said Thursday night outside a quiet clubhouse after Team USA was eliminated with a 2-1 loss to Mexico, which celebrated on the field as its fans celebrated in the stands. "I don't know how to feel listening to them cheer right now. I completely understand what it means to be at a loss for words. I was totally expecting us to go to San Diego. . . . I love the Oakland A's and everyone on that club," Street said, "but I wasn't ready for this to be over." -- Adios! Mexico knocks off the U.S.. All together now...awww.

Randomly: I heard South Korea exempted their WBC players from the 2 years of otherwise compulsory military service required of their citizens, as a "reward" for how well the team has played.

And...for [Bad username or site: kmousie / @ livejournal.com]: I know this will come as a surprise to you, because I've long allowed you to operate under the misconception that I do not suck. But I kinda do. I've been sitting on some blanks of Brad Ausmus for a while now, and yesterday I added a few more. But I really didn't have anything doing on the inspiration front as far as jazzing them up. I'm really bad with, like, requests and stuff. SO. Here are the bases/blanks. If you want to pick out 5-10 that you'd like me to focus on doing something more with, I'd be happy to. If there's any specific text you'd like me to add to any of them, that's cool, too. Ugh. I cannot sleep. **laments**

I saw Curious George yesterday and I absolutely loved it. If you've been thinking about seeing it, I very much encourage you to do so, especially while it's still in theatres. It's full of such color and love and joy - it was completely adorable. It's also one of those films that plays to adults while remaining very much a kids movie, which I always appreciate. I was pretty impressed with Will Ferrell's voicework, considering the fact that 95% of the time, he's pretty much talking to himself and reacting off an animal, as opposed to a person. David Cross (Junior) also does some really funny voicework. I went with [Bad username or site: rabbytt / @ livejournal.com] and I think we were having the most fun out of anyone there. Or, at least, we were the most vocal about it :-P I definitely laughed out loud a few times, and I very much look forward to owning it on dvd. I think it'll be one of my comfort-flicks, like Much Ado About Nothing, and The Station Agent.

Also, I'm not really a Jack Johnson person, but thumbs up on his work for this film. They couldn't have found a sound more perfectly suited. (I especially liked Upside Down, which played over the opening sequence.)

Thanks to everyone who gave me lj recs! It's funny to me that lj should seem so small a world - half of them were people I currently have friended (heh) or had friended at one point and cut. But I also got a couple new names to check out, so I thank you. If anyone else wants to rec me some journals I should check out, please feel free. ([Bad username or site: karabair / @ livejournal.com] and [Bad username or site: silverakira / @ livejournal.com] both gave me a ton of names 6 months ago when I did this, and I don't think I ever thanked you - thanks!).

Looking forward to Japan v. U.S. later today, and I should try to get the BSG finale in. I've seen something of a short spectrum of reaction, not necessarily of the positive. Vextatious, really. I'm blaming it all on the longer season.

[Bad username or site: shadow_shimmer / @ livejournal.com] is watching the first season of Deadwood. I'm so envious. That was such a great experience; I had no idea of what to expect from the show and it just kept me guessing every ep. I find myself really missing the characters, bastards that they were. Ah well. Three months and counting. **glares at The Sopranos**

+ So, I don't really like Yadier Molina, especially. But I like the way he photographs. Is that not strange?

Pinky, are you pondering what I'm pondering? )

[Bad username or site: owllover711 / @ livejournal.com], you were right. Brandon Webb is a bit of a cutie ^_~

+ In the interest of doing everything IN THE WORLD but work on my Note, I created a syndicated feed for the San Francisco Chronicle's Oakland Athletics stuff: [Bad username or site: sfgate_OAK / @ livejournal.com]. Mostly because as darling as the Oakland Athletics are, I have no intention of keeping my ass up nights to watch left coast games.

+ A-Rod has formally accepted Ozzie's apology. There's a story on mlb.com, which I couldn't really bring myself to read, because I saw another story somewhere that Alex is making it known he's "unhappy" with the WBC organizers. I don't even want to know what that is about. He just can't help himself.

+ Did Ryan Church ever apologize for the asinine comments he made about Jews last year? I was thinking of him today, for some reason.

+ Panic! At The Disco sound exactly like Fall Out Boy to me. Exactly. Which pleases me, because ever since I found out the lead singer of Fall Out Boy was feuding (or trying to feud) with Brandon Flowers, I can't really listen to Fall Out Boy anymore. I move to the next track on my mixed cds, I switch the station on my radio. I don't even know what they were/are feuding about. I realize my picking sides, after a fashion, is entirely silly, but that's the way my brain works.

+ I haven't seen 24 in three weeks, and I'm beginning to hate everyone on BSG who is not a Cylon or Edward James Olmos. I am both excited for, and really wary of, the upcoming Sharon-centric ep.

+ I kind of want to just pop in The Station Agent and hit the sack.
Um, Zito and Huddy have both pulled out of the WBC? Sadness! Huddy's not such a surprise, but that kinda sucks about Z.

Also, apparently Javy doesn't want to be traded after all. I'm sure he had his change of heart right around the time he noticed NO ONE WANTS HIS ASS. Orioles came to terms with Luis Matos, which apparently just leaves B-Rob and Rodrigo Lopez pending arbitration. I love how back assward our FO is. Yeah, handle those two guys last. Good plan. My dad says his friend at work who normally hooks me up with his extra season tickets asked after me. Wanted to know if there are any games I want tickets for this summer. I told him no. See? WILL OF STEEL, people. Yeeeeup.

Jeff pimped this page of BoSox pics taken by [Bad username or site: misscalculation / @ livejournal.com], and don't look now, but I kinda might have to do a batch of Sox icons at some point. Some of those are just too shiny.

[Bad username or site: call_me_daisy / @ livejournal.com] posted BSG icons I actually felt inclined to upload into my userpics. Yay! She also makes awesome L Word icons, and it pleases me beyond measure when an iconmaker I like branches out into my other fandoms. Because then I can be lazy.

ETA:

Ghost Whisperer is a 'hit drama'? Seriously?
Flipping stations over breakfast this morning and what should I stumble upon but a show on the WB called Loonatics Unleashed. Um, did y'all know about this? How could no one tell me? I CAME UPON IT WITH NO WARNING. And there was scarrage.

Let me get this straight. Setting aside Taz and that chick who I'm guessing is Lola Bunny revisted. Wile E. Coyote and the Road Runner...and Bugs and Daffy...are superheroes? And they defend Acmetropolis....TOGETHER? That's just...wrong. They hate each other. They're mortal enemies. Wile E. and Road Runner aren't boys. They don't hang. Wile E. wants Runner to not be alive anymore. Daffy can't stand Bugs. These are fundamental operative principles of the universe. So I say again. What the fuck.

What, I'm supposed to be okay with it because they changed the names and futzed with their look?

Whatever. I just feel betrayed, kids. Like, deep in my heart, I thought it was understood that there are things you just don't fuck with. The classic Looney Toons crew being one of them. I mean, Tiny Toons was one thing. But this. It's just wrong. **sulks**

And then on top of that, I got my resurrected Three Witches and it smells like ick. I think [Bad username or site: joseybird / @ livejournal.com] said that she left hers open overnight and in the morning it smelled just like her old bottle, so cross your fingers for me.

In less soul destroying news, last night's BSG? I have just one thing to say: I CHEERED. Hu-freakin'-zzah and all that jazz.
