[Bad username or site: yagathai / @ livejournal.com] linked to this yesterday, and I almost forgot to share. I don't know how, because this made me laugh really, really hard.

Battlestar Galactica: Simpsons-style.

Ten kinds of awesome. I think the Roslin/Adama and the Billy/Dee/Lee images are my favorites. And Sharon with baby toaster. Okay, I just love them all.

eta: btw, for those who are interested to know, I ended up going with tickets to Roy O's start, behind the Nats dugout. Which is on the third base side, for some reason. That's weird right? I feel like the home dugout is supposed to be on the first base side. [Bad username or site: acroarcs / @ livejournal.com], is there some story behind that?

edit 2:

Since I'm gonna be at CBP, I figured I might as well ask, though I think all the Phillies fans I know have access to the ballpark...anyone want me to pick them up one of these?

Billy poking at his "Sacrifice" gunshot wounds was just too much. TOO MUCH, I tell you. Heh.

Oh, no, you DI-IN'T. I decided to go to both the Nieve start (when Matt and Steph are going along) and the Roy O start and I might work in the Pettitte start as well if I decide I can spare the day off. Bought the first two this morning. I sprung for a pretty good ticket for Roy O's game, which is... behind the Nationals' dugout.

I feel like you're right, as it did feel backwards to me when I was specifically taking pictures of the dugout. I know it's first base side in (combining memory with a quick scan of pictures) Houston, Boston, Philadelphia, and St. Louis, at least, and you'd think that Boston and St. Louis would do it the right way and Washington, well, not so much. I know of no story, but maybe I can submit that as a question for today's WaPo discussion. If I had to make a guess, I'd bet it has something to do with ease of renovation in combination with the stadium's history of hosting primarily football and soccer - probably one of the clubhouses was actually used as a locker room for the last thirty years and one was built into existing space in 2005 or revived after thirty years of sitting empty. In the DVD extras, you get glimpses of the Nationals' clubhouse, but you get to see a lot of the visitors', which I also thought was strange.

FTR, the Salem Avalanche's home dugout was on the third base side. Not that you can judge from single-A teams.

Damn it, now you're tempting me to go to Philadelphia with pictures of Chase Utley and Pat Burrell? Is there no end to your madness? Not that I want there to be an end, but my goodness.

Also, I put in the question... the q-and-a starts at 2, so maybe we'll have an answer in a couple hours.

**laughs** I see. Section 219, by any chance?

XD I mean, if you want a calendar, just say so :P

Actually, I sprung even harder that that. 121, which is in the same spot around the stadium, but down. Of course, this means I'm probably going to be staring directly at Screech during inning breaks, but don't I need to sit close in order to get good pictures of Ausmus'sZimmerman'sEnsberg'sEverett's ass Church left-handed batters in general?

On Philadelphia: same rationale. Also, I couldn't bear to look at Phillies all year long. Maybe I should put together my own calendar, and since it's ostensibly a baseball calendar, I could even put it up at work without raising eyebrows (well, except Mark's) as everyone knows how crazy I am about the game.

Ooh, nice! And of course you do, TK.

Let me know what you decide about the 5/25 game. I got my tax refund, so I confess I am thinking about doing that game as well ^_~

From: [identity profile] ayrdaomei.livejournal.com

Yep! Well, I'll be in town tomorrow night. Right now I'm in Harrisburg with my bro, and tomorrow I'll be in Boyertown with a friend of mine before we head to Philly for the game ^_^

From: [identity profile] yagathai.livejournal.com

Neat! Have fun at the game. If it rains out, drop me a line or something -- we can find something else in town for you folks to do.

**laughs** I kinda shudder to think what insanity you'd get me caught up in ^_~

Wednesdays are relatively sedate -- a weekly Movie Night with some friends is my regular activity, though I often play hooky.

I'm not sure, but if he is, would you want the entire calendar or just the shot of him? If you'd just want the shot of him, I can send you that from mine. I

Id only want Nunez but I'd love if there were any way you could scan the others so I could take a looksee?

Ask and ye shall receive...

Bethesda, Md.: A friend and I were talking about this and we can't figure out if we're wrong, but it seems like most (maybe even all) Major League stadiums have their home dugout on the first base side while RFK's is on the third base side. Are we missing some other stadiums that have third base side home dugouts, or is there some reason why RFK is set up differently?

Dave Sheinin: I don't know for sure, but I suspect the positioning of the Nationals' home dugout has something to do with the proximity to their clubhouse -- the clubhouse connects to the dugout via a tunnel.

followed by...

dugout reply: There's no hard set rule for dugout placement. The Cubs are on the 3rd base side and I seem to remember the Indians are, too.

Dave Sheinin: That's correct. I think most teams choose the first base side because it is typically out of the direct sunlight. Stadiums are required to be angled in a certain direction to prevent batters from having to stare into the sun.

...

I'm not sure I agree, since stadiums are supposed to open toward ENE and the sun certainly doesn't set in the southeast, but I suppose it depends on how the stadium is angled and where light can get through and all that if sunlight from the southwest can get into the dugout. I think the clubhouse/dugout arrangement makes more sense.

Yeah, that makes the most sense to me, as well. Thanks for submitting the question!

I'm not gonna admit to being curious about the calendar, cause, no. O:)

Home dugout being on the third base side is confusing. Yay for Roy O's start, I personally would rather see him myself. Not sure how I haven't, yet, considering the Stros are here, like, every other day it seems like.

You should suggest the idea to Reds management ^_~ Maybe an all Austin Kearns All The Time calendar is in order.

I KNOW! The first time I went to RFK, it's funny, it took me almost 3 innings to figure out why the ballpark felt "wrong" >.>

Yeah, intra-division play is a bitch. Feels like we've been swept by the Red Sox three times already this season, wth.

oh my god, Billy. I also loved the freaked out Sharon with the face wound.

Dude, those were priceless.
