Ramadan Mubarak, [Bad username or site: oakchick75 / @ livejournal.com]!
The Killers were in Baltimore today with the Virgin Music Festival. As were the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Thievery Corporation, and The Flaming Lips, among others. Tickets were $97.50, and I still really wanted to go, so I'm glad my mom gave me a reason to get out of the state.
I am in crazy love with the video for When You Were Young; just 'cause. Another remix for the taking: The Killers - When You Were Young (The Lindbergh Palace Mix)
'Galactica': the best tv drama you've never seen. The first paragraph contains minor spoilers for the third season, as does the second paragraph on the 5th page. "We approach season 3 with nothing but terror, insecurity, and sheer liquid horror that we're going to screw it up if we're not really, really careful. . . .That's our mantra: Don't screw it up."
I find that comforting. I'm glad they worry.
The A's failed to clinch today. [Bad username or site: rickenbacker / @ livejournal.com] says Dan better pitch a 90 minute shutout or she'll have to miss her flight. I've got $5 that says Bri's sleeping in the airport ^_~
The Cardinals apparently cannot win a game to save their lives. Should be an interesting night of Sunday Night Baseball...a game I actually want to see, for the first time in months.
Today's Marlins/Phillies game was...not fun. Scotty pitches tomorrow, but I think I'm gonna be driving and won't get to watch. Btw, I'm glad Joe's saying he won't quit, because I want Loria to have to fire him. Not that Loria seems at all averse to bad press.
The pumpkin pie ripple ice cream at Bruster's? A biiiiiiit much.
eta: Also, that whole Nick Johnson thing? :( How awful. Totally had me flashing back to B-Rob's injury in New York last season.

I disagree.
But then, I have playoff tickets and I want to use them.

This is nice, as the last two years, our season tickets have been pretty much paid for well in advance of the season.
However, I'd like to actually go to a playoff game, for once. I'm a little tired of paying for next year's tickets in advance in lieu of an actual berth.
...They changed the package this year- previous packages have had to include WS tickets, and I think we all know that won't happen. This year it's just DS and CS and then another set for WS if needed.

Understandable :/ But I can't say I'd like to see the Fish drop the four remaining games they have to play against y'all. I'll settle for hoping someone out west stops winning every damn night.

Last year broke my goddamn heart, as they played their asses off and lost out on a berth because Houston WOULD NOT FUCKING LOSE, so I would really, really appreciate it if one of the California teams went into a tailspin.
I've got nothing against the Fish- hell, half of them are Sox products, so I'm somewhat beholden to root for them. Right now? They're in my way.

Nothing against Bri, but WHY can't they struggle like this in a year when the Cubs have a chance?

lol, I don't know! It's been a very strange year over in Cardinal land.

I can't believe Loria. I can't believe him. Does he have any idea how his behavior comes off to others at ALL??
;_; Poor Nick. That almost sounds worse than B-Rob's injury to me...I taped that game and now I'm afraid to watch it.

Sure he does, but he's got that "it's my team, I'll do what the fuck I want" attitude. SOUND FAMILIAR? :/ I cannot believe it's gotten this bad. It's such a shame that this is the story now, and not what an amazing year the kids have had. I love the players though, for being more than happy to tell the media how much they love playing for Joe.

I saw the footage, and it was pretty rough. I found it a little easier to watch than when B-Rob was hurt, because Johnson's face remained hidden from view most of the time (at first he seemed to be screaming into the grass, and then later he had his hands over his face), but you could tell he was in pain. B-Rob dislocated his elbow, but Johnson actually broke/fractured the femur. Definitely worse, I think :( You get a sense of it from the article, but watching it and seeing the looks on everyone's faces, you know he did not sound good.

*facepalm* I keep forgetting about the lunar calendar Islam follows, WHY I don't know. Is there a general range of Gregorian dates Ramadan can be said to safely fall between? (just for my curiosity and edification)
I can't imagine having to go all day without anything though; much respect to you. Even the Lenten Friday fasting I've done in past years allowed us to eat two meals a day.

Far too familiar. ;__;
I don't know what I would do were I one of those players. What a dreadful thing, to know your own owner is capable of being so horrid. The Marlins deserve better than that. (not to mention South Floridians should fucking ROOT for them, the idiots.)
I finally watched the game and saw the footage. I think it was just about as awful as watching B-Rob, even if you didn't see Nick's being in pain as much as you did B-Rob's. There was plenty of other badness to make up for it (such as watching poor Austin Kearns struggle not to cry too much).
I suspect if Nick's fracture was compound and not simple, it will take him longer to recover at least than it did B-Rob. I don't have the slightest idea whether it's worse to have soft tissue damage or a bone fracture; I suspect it might be a wash in the end. All I know is I feel awful for the guy; even when he was a Yankee I kind of liked him. Poor Nick...:-(

And you gotta love that whole Mexican soap opera thing.
I do! I've always loved videos that tell a story, and visually, it's a great looking clip. There are two versions - one where she jumps and one where she doesn't. I can't decide which one I like better.

That is comforting, actually. Would that more of TPTB felt that way. (Nick and Cheryl I'm looking at you).

I hadn't! lol, poor Nats. If it's not one thing, it's another.
