Things that are lame:
1. Maid Marion being KILLED OFF in the second season finale of the BBC's Robin Hood. And not, like, fake-you-out-for-the-season-finale killed off, kids. Really and truly killed off. To which I say....what? I knew there was a reason I stopped watching this show after the first season. And the worst thing is, you can't unknow this. It just sits there, in the back of your head. Why oh why did I flip to BBCA last night?
2. Disney's The Black Cauldron, which I was DUPED into buying by virtue of its cover art indicating it is a Disney Masterpiece. I was like, what's this? A Disney Masterpiece I haven't seen? INCONCEIVABLE. Sure, I was little unsure about a story involving a clairvoyant pig, but if anyone could make that work, Disney could. But it turns out no one can make that work. So bad! It only cost me a dollar at Goodwill, and I wanted my dollar back.
3. Ellis spending his last two months as an A on a team that looks on pace to have an ugly end to the season.
4. Manny blathering on about finding peace of mind in LA and wanting to end his career there. Dude, shut the fuck up. You have been there for all of A DAY. God. Just shut up and play some baseball and hope you can con some sad bastard into giving you an obscene amount of money for the privilege of putting up with your obnoxious ass.
A thing that is hilarious:
5. The A's are going to spend the remainder of the season auditioning Huston's replacement. Ahahaha.
"I would say I'm extremely unhappy about it," Street said Saturday. "(Closing is) what I've done my whole career. Do I think I've been as good as I've been my whole career? No. But I still think there's two months left in the season for me to prove myself . . . or prove myself to them."
Yes, please take it personally, Huston. (Okay, I do feel a little bad for him, because it's just so BLATANT, but oh well.) Also, lolz at the idea that the A's are doing this to "help" his confidence.
Things that are of the yay. I think.:
6. Zito's line: 8.0IP, 3H, 5K. The walks are never gonna go away, apparently (4BB last night), but not a bad night's work in front of his hometown peeps. Isn't he due for another sitdown with Urban this weekend?
7. Chris Kirkpatrickyou can get your ass kicked is going to be on the second season of Gone Country. I resisted the first year, even though they had Baltimore's own Sisqo on board, because I hate reality tv. Haaaate. But Chris? Seriously? I give in, CMT. I will watch your dumb reality show.

Haha, I know, right? It's so very random. I stopped watching mid-first season, but I checked out wikipedia after the second season finale and had to reread that part a couple of times for it to make sense.
Oh lord, The Black Cauldron. I was obsessed with those books when I was little, and I remember being so excited that Disney was releasing it. And then I watched it and was absolutely disgusted. Even at the age of 10 I was like "What the hell did they do to the book?"
Sure, I was little unsure about a story involving a clairvoyant pig
If it's any consolation, the books are good in a My First Lord of the Rings/King Arthur/Welsh Mythology sort of way.

Yes! Because you really can't just switch up a legend like that. I find it incredibly presumptuous on their part. They should have just sucked it up and recast the part. Fans would have understood why it was necessary.
Even at the age of 10 I was like "What the hell did they do to the book?"
LOL. Never a good sign when even the pre-teens think you've dropped the ball. I was reading somewhere that Disney really thought this was the movie that was going to put their animated films back on the map after some only ho hum products. I really marvel at their group-delusion.

**laughs** I can imagine. The opening sequence of the movie definitely gave me LOTR-lite vibes.

(I'm sure he's probably just pissed because this hurts him if he can't work out an extension and he had to go to arbitration instead.)

I rememeber when Disney first released that on VHS like 12 years ago, and my aunt was seriously like "THIS WAS MY FAVORITE MOVIE AS A KID! WE HAVE TO GO GET IT!" So we ventured out on the day of release to buy it, and went home to watch it. As it finished, my aunt was like, "I liked this movie?"
It was a little dark, IMHO. I mean, the skeletons kinda creeped me out when I was 6. And they still do.
When's Manny a free agent? I was going to say this time next year LAD wants to drive him out, or he wants out, but I that's only if he doesn't sign somewhere else sooner. But I'm guessing it's not this season, so my guesstimate holds up.
Where does Street fit into the A's future? Or... doesn't he?

lol. I am sure she was not the only person who had that reaction upon re-viewing it. I have to confess, I turned it off about 20 minutes in.
It is a little dark. I remember being struck by the fact that Taran falls at one point (after the struggle with the flying things), and comes up with blood on his face. I couldn't remember the last time I saw blood on a human character in a Disney animated film.
Manny's a free agent at the end of this season. The deal he originally signed with Boston was a ten year deal, and the last two years of the deal were club options for $20 million each. This is the eighth year of his contract, and as a condition of the trade, the Dodgers have agreed not to exercise the club options on his deal. Most everyone believes that all the drama and carrying on in Boston this year has been about getting out of the last two years of his contract, so he can test free agency, and presumably sign a new deal that would pay him more than $20 mill a year.
Where does Street fit into the A's future? Or... doesn't he?
He's young enough, but I don't think he does fit in with the A's future. I think Billy and co. see him as too much of an injury risk and really only a decent closer. I am fairly sure he'll be traded this off season, or by July of next year. The other issue is, of course, his salary. He made 3.3 mill or so last year, and I don't think he'll make too much more next season given his states this year and the fact that he won't get too many more save opps. But even 3.5 or 4mil is likely to be way more than Beane wants to spend on a guy who's not starting every day.

Huston needs to suck it up and ... stop sucking it up.
