Alright, so recall, last week, the snarky statement by Ray Fosse about Rich Harden? ("..to be four games back in the West, still right there, very much, and a whole summer of baseball left. People like Rich Harden ready to return. I think the A's are in a good spot." "As long as he doesn't hurt his elbow throwing those sunflower seeds.")
I give you this news release from the Oakland Athletics:

Prior to today's game against the Cleveland Indians, the Oakland Athletics activated right-handed pitcher Esteban Loaiza from the 15-day disabled list and placed pitcher Rich Harden on the 15-day disabled list (retroactive to June 5) with a sprained ligament in his right elbow.

Now, see. Tempting the wrath of the whatever from high atop the thing. Never fails.

AHAHAHAHAHAHA. And Rich Harden continues to be the victim of crazy time travel plots and keeps suddenly not existing.

I confess, I am sekritly glad he's back on the DL. 'Cause I was totally waiting on Beck to write her story ^_~

I saw that and decided that I did not want to be the bearer of bad news, so I waited, knowing someone would say it. Ah, too much. Just too much.

If he's still out July 17-19, I will be upset. Although I suppose everyone else on the team will probably make up for it.

It looks like he might be lost for good. =(
And I could have sworn that the lat Richie sighting meant he was here to stay!

We have to keep talking about him! Say his name out loud, every day. Maybe we can still save him.

Oh my god, I totally remember hearing that comment, too. I'd forgotten about it until you reminded me. Jesus Christ.

There's snakebitten, and then there's Rich Harden, apparently. And I just saw something recently where Huston was talking about how much it kills Rich to not be able to contribute.

what's going on..

Now, the A's are bracing for news on shortstop Bobby Crosby, who injured his right hand fouling off a pitch in the eighth inning. Crosby, whose hand was heavily wrapped after the game, was scheduled to get X-rays in Cleveland before heading to New York for the club's three-game series with the Yankees.

Now, it's crosby...oh, c'mon...

For those who love Swisher, there's a new video on him on ESPN...he's looking cute!!!!

From: [identity profile] ayrdaomei.livejournal.com

Oh, thanks for the heads up! Since I just checked yesterday, I probably won't have seen it until next week ^_^

From: [identity profile] panicqueen.livejournal.com

That's actually not all that funny at all. Harden being out with a sprained ligament in his elbow? He'll be out for two months.

Brandon Backe has the same thing and he's been gone for seven weeks. So really, Harden being out isn't funny at all.

You've got your funny ha-ha, and then there's your funny uh oh, that comes with the clarity of being continually screwed. Rich seems to regularly fall into the latter category.

From: [identity profile] lovingthecubs.livejournal.com

Well, at least he's not a Cub. I mean, if he's having this much luck with the DL as an A [this season], can you imagine him with a club that's known for having a megaton injury prone players/pitchers..?

Oh Richie. I think he needs a hug before everyone sends him off as dead again, don't you?

From: [identity profile] ayrdaomei.livejournal.com

I did have the thought that he's already become the A's version of Mark Prior/Kerry Wood, you know? Every time he pitches, you hear Cy Young at least a dozen times, and then every time you turn around, he's on the DL.

I think he needs a hug before everyone sends him off as dead again, don't you?

Aww, no one's sending him off as dead! He just tends to disappear long enough that we start to wonder >.> But sure, he could probably use a hug. Or a package of good vibes. Whichever you have to spare, after taking care of your own boys ^_~

oh my, that is just remarkable. i think that's a land speed record for richie.

must send huston street forty years into the past now.

BUT HE CAN ONLY TRAVEL WITHIN HIS OWN LIFETIME

**salutes** We put Richie's fate in your most capable hands.
