Oh man, is there anything better than when you try to be on the up and up with your mother about something you KNEW you should have just gone ahead and done behind her back, and she starts ranting and carrying on and won't let you make a point? I love that.

Via [Bad username or site: thewriteratwork / @ livejournal.com]:
1. Grab the nearest book. (N.B. Don't you dare dig for that "cool" or "intellectual" book in your closet! I know you were thinking about it! Just pick up whatever is closest.)
2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the next 3 sentences on your blog along with these instructions.

He pulls into the driveway and switches off the engine, then the headlights. He undoes his seatbelt, guiding it with his hand as it retracts, back behind his left shoulder. "Another reason."

I started The Namesake last night, which is the only reason I had anything nearby to do this with. That leads into kind of a big moment in the story, doesn't it? I recognize the scene from the movie version's trailer.

It's sad. The nearest book I have near me is "HET SQL leerboek". I won't citate anything because:
a) I don't want to bore you till death
b) it's in dutch
c) and it's stupid :D

SQL is query language, for those who don't know. BLEH!

My nearest book is also about SQL! Except it's in English.

Indeed. I guess she just had to get it out of her system, because she was way more rational about it a few hours later. The thing I don't think she gets though, is that I have a Mom voice in my head, and she's all "WHY DIDN'T YOU COME TALK TO ME FIRST" and it's like because I knew EXACTLY what you were gonna say, and I took it under advisement, and I made a different decision anyway.

But. Moving on.

To play along:

Mal was eager to return an earlier part of Simon's tongue-wage.

From the Serenity novelization. Don't ask why I own this. I don't even know. And while that sentence is actually the sixth on the page, it seemed much more appropriate considering just who's LJ this is and how she is all about out of context nastinest. Perv.

Another that was pretty much equal length away and fair is fair.

STAY BACK!

From The Complete Bone. Rose, little adventurer she is, to some evil rat creatures.

Sorry, moms is getting on your nerves. If it's any consolation me and my dukes have had a really pleasant morning/afternoon today. So there is some balance...it just likes me better than you! =P

What the hell is tongue-wage? Wagage makes a little more sense, but only a little. Also, I own the novelization of Air Force One and I've read it like 3 times. So.

The book nearest me is the MLA Handbook.

...that's kinda sad, isn't it?

**laughs** No. I feel your pain. I almost never do this meme, because I almost never have anything not school-related right next to me.
