Did The Science of Sleep come out while I wasn't looking? Wtf.
If you're interested in this year's Athletics magazines, there's a decently priced lot available on Ebay: here. 'Cause I'm all about helping you spend your money, you know.
"He doesn't want to go to Texas and he doesn't want to stay in the Bay Area (with the Giants). And all of his people want him in New York." - NY Daily News.
I read that, while I was looking to see what's to this Haren-to-the-Mets deal, and I kept coming back to he doesn't want to stay in the Bay Area. Ignoring the with the Giants part, for a second. I don't know, I just assumed Zito was happy in Oakland, but would follow the money because he wanted to get paid, and was prolly under some pressure from the union as well. I could see him wanting a change of scenery, but I thought if Oakland could pay him, he'd have stayed. As it was, I kinda had him figured for another California team; they'd be just as willing to overpay and he'd be keen to stay in Cali. But I guess not. Which maybe explains why we never really caught wind of any sort of real effort to sign Barry to an extension during the year?
I'm just rambling.
I heard the Yanks offered Andeh and his bum elbow $15 mill, but I haven't seen anything on the Astros' offer. Anyone?
The White Sox traded Freddy Garcia to the Phillies on Wednesday and nearly sent Jon Garland to the Astros. The trade hit a snag and fell through, however, when young right-hander Taylor Buchholz failed a physical. Chicago also stood to receive speedy center fielder Willy Taveras and right-hander Jason Hirsh in the deal. - SI.
And while I'm being too lazy to look up things I'm only remotely interested in, what's wrong with Taylor?

And about that quote on Zito? It's from New York. I would definitely take that with a grain of salt.
We offered the Thief of T's $12mil for one year. But keep in mind the following: the two most important things in his life are God and family. Money comes third. His family is in Deer Park, the money is in New York, his family wins!
Thank God for major league children. And wives.

lol, aw. These young guys need to learn some self control.

It's an unidentified "major league source" being quoted in an NY rag, yes, but it would explain some things. I distinctly recall most of the California teams were supposed to be in it for Zito, yet none of that's seemed to materialized, which I find it curious. But I suppose it's still early.

**laughs** I hope so, for your sake. I'm surprised it's taking so long, if the main decision was just whether he would pitch again or not.

Andy just makes my life too difficult for a guy I'm not all that crazy about. Thank God I don't have a final until Monday. I'd be a mess if I had one tomorrow.

Ooooooooh. That makes more sense. Hmm.

I could do without Sco-Pod, but that's just because he sucks at baseball and is horrifically overrated more than anything else.
A lot of the guys on the team I don't care one way or another about, but I liked Aaron Rowand, and I liked Freddy Garcia, and I like Jon Garland. So. Joe Crede's sort of like your stupid little brother who set himself on fire. So I can't really hate him.

But then, I'm also still a little bitter.

LOL, I remember that! And I remember being a little wtf too, because I distinctly recalled watching almost all of the season series between the white sox and the red sox in '05, and Crede was TERRIBLE in those games. I was rooting for balls to be hit to him just so I could see what new way he would find to muff the play.

Now I'm just picturing Zito running around with a posse. It's amusing.
The White Sox traded Freddy Garcia to the Phillies on Wednesday
Holy fuck, THANK GOD. YES.
and nearly sent Jon Garland to the Astros. The trade hit a snag and fell through, however, when young right-hander Taylor Buchholz failed a physical.
Dammit Buccholz. You stupid squirrelly motherfucker. We could have gotten Jon Garland out of the central! I'm all for depleting the MFWS! And you know, a Certain Someone would have been thrilled if that deal had gone through. So. **cough**

Hee, I wondered, too. Who the hell are his people? I mean, besides his agent? Well I guess his dad wants his son in a bigger media market, but still. Heh.
Holy fuck, THANK GOD. YES.
Surprising, though, right? As many teams as are desperate for starting pitching, and the White Sox are just packing guys off to the National League?

LOL.

Heh, yeah, the thought had occurred to me.

I wonder what constitutes as a posse if you're a stoner surfer boy.

Surprising and stupid. I LOVE IT.
Heh, yeah, the thought had occurred to me.
You know what they say. Great minds and all that.

Initially, these rumors were appearing as Harden to the Mets, which, dude, all for, but no Haren. Danny can stay in Oakland for the rest of his life.
I just had to get that out there.

Yeah, I know! lol. My friend [Bad username or site: rickenbacker / @ livejournal.com] is a huge Harden fan, so she just about lost it last night when the rumors first came out. Slusser wrote about the alleged confusion this morning (http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/chronicle/archive/2006/12/07/AS.TMP&type=as), and I saw that Ken Rosenthal, and the New York papers are also going with the story that it's really Haren the Mets want.
It doesn't look like you have to worry though; I think Billy's just trying to see what he can get - the NYTimes is reporting the A's asked about Maine in addition to Heilman and Milledge, and I would be surprised if the Mets are ready to give him up.
I just had to get that out there.
Hee, okay. I've been amusing myself a little with the idea that the Mets want Danny as another way to lure Barry to sign with them, and I thought for a second it might be cute to have my OTP reunited in New York... but I don't really want to see Danny leave Oakland either.

i don't know, but i'm curious. and although the drunkard thing is always a possibility, somehow i don't think so. my stupid crush aside, i had figured there really did have to be something wrong with him, other than the mental stuff...hm, all curious.
but i for one am so glad that trade did not go through. of course.

I guess so, which really, really surprises me, because I feel like there was quite a bit of buzz. But then the same thing happened with Babel- a ton of buzz, and something of a promotional blitz, but it never got a wide release.

lol, no, it's not. I meant it came out in theatres months ago and I never even realized! It was apparently released in late September, but I don't recall ever seeing it on the movie listings here. I don't think a dvd release date has even been set yet :)

I never did picture him in Texas, though. *shrug* But the Mets? HAHAHA Oh gawd. Whatever.
Color me surprised that the Dodgres are throwing money like confetti at Schmidt. *smirk * IDIOTS.
