I'm going to give blood today, even though it is HOT AS ALL GET OUT. Because the Red Cross keeps calling. Why do I feel like I donate a bazillion times a year? I wouldn't mind it except that it's such a pain to sit through the pre-donation screening over and over and over. I mean, I'm presuming they're not gonna take me at my word that I haven't slept with a man who's slept with a man since 1977, so why waste my time. They're gonna test the blood anyway. Meh.
Did you know that you can write the word 'fucked' on the outside of a piece of US mail and the post office will still deliver it unaltered? Thank you, [Bad username or site: cruzalicious / @ livejournal.com], for teaching me something I didn't know ^_~
Hey HUSTON. Know what Jesus would do? I'm pretty sure if the Savior were in your shoes, the Savior would not be blowing gamesonce a week left and right. Get it together, man.
I don't know what it is that makes my heart break for Lidge, while all I want to do is laugh at Huston Street. It's probably the fact that I'm fairly sure Huston Street isn't likely to end himself over a bad stretch. Though that could change.
The Marlins won yesterday. I didn't realize it until [Bad username or site: lovingthecubs / @ livejournal.com] said something, but the Marlins have won almost twice as many games as the Cubs this month. Holy Hannah, man. [Bad username or site: phantom_hpuff / @ livejournal.com], did you see this? Pat the Bat to the Yanks, D-Train to Philly, and unnamed prospects to the Marlins? Ew. Shot down, thankfully.
Julia Stiles threw out the first pitch at a Mets game a couple nights ago. I have such a girl-crush on her. I remember she wore a Mets shirt to the MTV Movie Awards a few years back; I think that pretty much sealed the deal on my affection. The question now is, do I have enough of a crush to carry my ass to the movies to see The Omen. Prooooobably not. Sorry Jules. But I will watch Save The Last Dance again, just for you.
Zito was on MLB Midday yesterday, talking with Phife Dawg. The questions are fairly routine, and nothing out of Zito's mouth is earthshattering, but here it is, for those who collect these things. Well, there's a bit where he talks about how he's changed in recent years, and I guess that was of interest. It's in the second half of the show, so you can skip ahead in the asf file, to about the midpoint (Let's say the 9:45 mark).

The paperback version of Aces was released last month, and I've seen little to no comment on the new 2005 season afterword that was added by Urban. I know many of you bought the book when it was released in hardcover last year, so I've posted a gallery of the added pages. I'll probably take it down tomorrow. I trust everyone knows how this works? Click on the thumbnail to get to a larger version of the image, and if you have trouble reading that, then click on it to get to the full-size pic. I take no responsibility for the damage to your eyes ^_~

because you're a dirty horit is my opinion that huston is now showing up at the ballpark drunk.
I have such a girl-crush on her.
I was thinking the same thing yesterday, when they showed yet another Omen preview. Specifically, I was like "now there's a blonde I could understand wanting to get with".

**laughs** No, you've got it all wrong. This is an after (http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g87/aulbrich/Strikeouts%20for%20Troops%20Party/IMG_0544.jpg) shot. Except the cups are probably getting bigger by the week.

The Red Cross doesn't want my blood, but every now and then I get a nagging letter from them asking me to try to donate again. That irritates me. The answers to my questions haven't changed, so you're still not going to want it. Stop bugging me!

That irritates me.
Ugh, understandably so.

Oh lookie, Clemens signed with the Astros. NO ONE SAW THAT COMING. *rolls eyes*
From:

Me too! **high-fives** I can't imagine how they must keep after the 0- donors, jeez.
NO ONE SAW THAT COMING.
"Oh, THERE'S a big surprise. That was incredible-- I think I'm gonna have a heart attack and DIE, from that surprise." As the evil sidekick parrot once said ^_~

Here is what I think was going on in his mind. Zito was terrified that Phife was gonna try and give him a black man hand shake. So Zito is thinking, "Do I grip and then clasp? Is there going to be tandem finger snapping involved? Maybe the pull 'n tug technique? I think I can do that one." Totally lost. When he looks at the camera? That's a call for understanding that he can't be held accountable for what handshake is to come. Notice how when Phife gives him a regular flavorless handshake Zito's whole attitude changes from dread to glee. Yup, thems be the facts.

The Almereyda version is a blast, though. It doesn't all work (keep an eye out for Laertes lecturing Ophelia about her virginity - the movie is set in the year 2000! Creepy much?), but it's really interesting to see the story play out in a more modern era with the different changes made. The cast really is terrific, too; I think the weakest performance is Ethan Hawkes, which is kinda too bad, but everyone else is so good that it's okay. I particularly love Bill Murray, whose Polonius is probably the one I want to bitchslap the least (HATE Polonius!), Stiles, Diane Verona's Gertrude, Kyle MacLachlan (mmm, sexy Claudius), Liev Schrieber (I had no idea he could actually act before I saw this movie) and okay the entire cast. Now I really want to dig my copy out and watch it again.

since Branagh-the-director wouldn't know subtlety if it bit him in the butt and some of the scenes need a subtler touch
Which scenes in particular are you thinking of? The end is rather hamtastic and makes me laugh sometimes, but off the top of my head, I can't really think of any other sequences that bothered me too much.

Randomly, have I mentioned lately how much I hate that question?
Stupid Red Cross just assumes they don't want my blood anyway these days. That's all right, I only got past the *checking irons levels* thing about three times in nine tries back when I still could. :(
From:

You have not. In fact, you have NEVER mentioned it in the time that I've known you.
Stupid Red Cross just assumes they don't want my blood anyway these days.
Well at least they're not calling you three times a week! And now that I'm done with whole blood for a couple months, watch them start after me for platlet donation. It's always something.
Btw, **high-fives** you on rarely passing the iron test. I usually don't pass the sight check where they look to see if the blood sinks to the bottom of the tube in 15 seconds. They have to run the second test where they spin the blood and check it some other way and declare me an acceptable 38. Whatever that means.

Oh those Marlins.. We're entering into our harder part of the schedual, & I'm kinda scared seeing as we were swept by the fish..
Ohemgee- Did you hear Hairston was traded to Texas? I got home from school & saw it. I'll miss him. :[

Nor I! I had two copies of A Collection of Beauties At The Height of Their Popularity, something like 3 copies of Fellowship of The Ring, two copies of Alice In Wonderland.... ^_~
I'm kinda scared seeing as we were swept by the fish..
Don't feel so bad. Hopefully the Fish are getting ready to surprise a lot of people ^_^

Aww, no! I just got in. How sad - I know he really loved being close to his hometown :( Ah well, at least he knows some people in Texas - he played with Gary Matthews, Jr. when he was an Oriole ^_^

Oh God, it is up here too. And soooo humid. I was babysitting and the boys were all "Let's go play outside!". I told them no, so instead they started beating each other up. At least it was air conditioned.
And have fun with that whole "giving blood" thing, which I will never do ever, because needles freak me out.

Yes! Those kids are nuts. It was MURDER outside, just walking to my car.
Donation isn't that bad; I just hate the initial prick. It's always quick, but it really stings for like 5 seconds.
From:

but me? i'm a freak and i LOVE giving blood. i think it's really cool to watch my blood spill down a tube into a bag. no lie.
and the only thing that hurts is when they prick your finger for the iron test. and that hurts like a mother.

Sad that they don’t keep in touch as regularly as they once did.
Thanks for taking the time to post and for reopening the gallery. :-D
