+ Off to PA in a little while ^_^ Spending tonight at my brother's place and then gonna be in Philly for the Mets/Phillies game tomorrow with [Bad username or site: phantom_hpuff / @ livejournal.com]. Should we chance upon the pride of Chesapeake Virginia, I will endeavor to keep her from explaining to him how she's a better David Wright than he is ^_~ And after reading this, I'm excited to just check out the ballpark, almost as much as anything else.
+ When did Mapquest get rid of the "reverse these directions" feature?
+ I got a windfall of bpal in the mail yesterday! I've been mostly swapping my extra impage, but I was bad and did buy two bottles (Enraged Bunny Musk and Obatala). New to me: Swank, Eutrepe, Dance of Death, La Fee Verte, Ozymandias, Fruminous Bandersnatch, Black Phoenix, Black Opal, Rosalind, Shroud, Ophelia, Wings of Azrael, Chango, Yemaya, The City in the Sea, Peony Moon, Oberon, Sheol, and Dance of Death. So far I've only tried two - EBM1 is very true to its description, a powdery light summer scent and I'm guessing that floral note is the clover. Some of the forum reviews mention a lemony sweetness, but I didn't pick up any lemon note in this at all. I like it, but I'm thinking of layering it with Santo Domingo or Dublin, to see if I can give it a little bite. The other oil I tried was Fruminous Bandersnatch2 and Holy Hannah, this made me sneeze like crazy. I don't normally tend to allergies at all, but this time of the year in particular, something about Williamsburg drives my system nuts. I think my nose must still have been a little sensitive to that, because I put a dab of this on my wrist, raised it to sniff and just started sneezing for about 3 minutes. Heh.
+ I need to have breakfast...and watch Prison Break again. I was watching it last night and my mom decided the moment things were getting dicey was the perfect time to approach me about buying some facial cream online for my cousin, since her husband was unwilling to let her charge something on the credit card over the internet. What the hell. My show is on, ma! And then I came back and my dad was all "So and so didn't make it and so and so almost didn't make it but then such and such happened" and I'm like...what? you don't even watch the show, for one. And for two, I WAS TAPING IT DAD, STOP SPOILING ME.
Parents. How embarrassing.
+ On my fridge, there is a Richmond Braves magnet schedule and an Astros magnet schedule. I feel a disturbance in the force. I could have sworn I built my entire life as a baseball fan around making fun of the National League. I don't know what's happening to me. Along these same lines, it is possible I find Joe Crede kinda cute since he cut his hair, his features all composed of these insanely sharp angles. Kinda. Sorta. Don't look at me like that.
+ The NY papers are all doom and gloom and TRADE FOR WILLIS AND/OR ZITO NOW KPLZTHNX. Noooo. Shut up, New York papers. That's not buddies.
+ "He's one of those guys who keeps the clubhouse loose," Wright said. "His attitude is infectious. You get around him, you start smiling and that's what the team needs. You can't even say his name without smiling." - Aww, everybody loves Jose. It's interesting to me how these articles about how important Jose's family is to him NEVER mention his daughter.
+ 'Hammer' sets pounding pace. I heard a rumor Josh Willingham is [Bad username or site: rickenbacker / @ livejournal.com]'s favorite Marlin. I think everyone should adopt a Marlin. In fact, you should probably adopt mine, because I got him benched for three games last week >.>
This is a rather lame fluff piece, but D-train says some nice things about Josh, and we learn that Joe Girardi did not give him that nickname, much to Leanne's chagrin.
+ Marlins think they might have the edge on Rookie of the Year voting. Hee. That's, like, the most optimistic piece I've seen in the FL papers all year.
+ fairly random, but interesting: FSN Midwest reporter Jim Hayes was pulled from a recent Cardinals trip to Pittsburgh a few days after he angered Cardinals manager Tony La Russa by calling the Milwaukee Brewers "overrated" in a bit that aired on the video board while those teams were playing.
"It was a mutual decision between the Cardinals and FSN," said Mark Hulsey, who oversees FSN's Cards productions.
o.O See, I knew there was bad press on the Cardinals out there somewhere. How downright Evil Empire-ish of them. From what I understand of the situation, I agree with the writer here. Why in the world should the reporter have had to apologize? If the Cardinals were embarrassed, the fault lies with the Cards people who okayed the use of FSN footage on the scoreboard, not with the FSN reporter. Unless, perhaps, it was one of those deals where the FSN crew tapes a stadium-specific spot, to be used expressly by the Cardinals. But even in that case, honestly, it strikes me that the responsibility for spin falls more on the Cards organization's end. Is it me, or is FSN in the habit of discipling their reporters for doing their job? There was that thing with the Milton Bradley footage a little while back, now this.
+ And for Bri, cause I know how she loves it when people equate Cardinals fans with Yankee fans: Royals give a lesson in loyalty

Yep! Though I am kind of a shameful Angel fan, as I have yet to get around to watching the last season >.>
Anyway, just wanted to drop a line and say hi. Plus it felt a bit creepy to read your journal and not say anything.

Heh, yes. I know how you feel, dude. I had the exact same reaction when I found out last fall. I was like "...what? INCONCEIVABLE."
But yeah, I can probably count on one hand the number of times I've seen her mentioned. There was a story in the Post last spring (that I only found in the fall) about how he was a new father and then there was another mention of her in a Daily News piece from the end of February:
Reyes has grown up in the Mets' organization - he signed with the club as a 16-year-old in 1999 - as much off the field as on it. He now has a 1-year-old daughter, Katerine, who lives with her mother in New York. The baby spent the winter in the Dominican Republic with Reyes' parents. The family had a huge party to celebrate her first birthday on Jan. 20. Reyes' parents doted.
"Oh my God, he loves that baby so much," Reyes says of his father. "He spends the whole day holding the baby. My momma, too. They're crazy with that girl. She is so beautiful. I'm proud of myself and my daughter, too. I've got a beautiful daughter. She's 1 year old and walking and she started to speak a little bit."

weird in general, though. and yeah brent got his knuckles rapped too. Jim Hayes btw is doing the games like normal right now. I read this post yesterday and didn't have time to comment but lastnight I dreamt that The Cat (jim hayes' nickname) and Tony were hugging and making up, lol
also, yeah, Tony does NOT like anyone belittling the competition, no matter what team it is
and IT IS NOT ALL ROSES being a cardinals fan!! we do happen to be having our best decade of consistently good baseball since the 1940s but even in the 80s when we went to the world series 3 times, we were on again anad off again. and we're not all here just because we're a winning team, damnit.
