I am so incredibly bored by this whole "studying for Ethics" business, you have no idea. It grows harder and harder to convince myself this is not time that would be better spent catching up on Prison Break and 24.

I have no idea what the hell is going on in Kansas City.

Astros are winning. **shakes pom-poms**

Dan A's lost. Swisher hit a grand-slam; his first. But they lost, so. I think I might be able to get away with a Haren icon. I mean, the guy apparently couldn't buy a win off his mother, so I doubt I can make his luck any worse.

I'm really depressed there was no Marlins game today.

This Wild Pitches feature looks promising.

I admit I was wrong about the AJ Burnett thing. Though I still think we could have stood to make the trade for him at the half. But yes, on signing AJ longterm, I will stand here in my wrongness, and be wrong.

Sometimes, I think I need a new default icon, because this is longest I've ever gone without changing it. But then I think I've become associated with this one in some people's heads, the thought of which pleases me. Decisions, decisions.

I think your default icon should be of Mike to show that you're in fact not racist. Or something.

From: [identity profile] ayrdaomei.livejournal.com

Then I think you mean it should be YOUR default icon, since you are the one who is the racist.

I, on the other hand, am the living, breathing embodiment of racial harmony and justice.

The grand slam was unbelievable, I n enjoyed the game but I thought K-rod was a coward, c'mon you wanna walk the man, make in a decent way, but no he threw 4 balls...BTW, if he's that good, pitch the guy...
But overall, the game is was great, cuz Danny was a HOTTIE...

From: [identity profile] ayrdaomei.livejournal.com

Hee. Call the man yellow for pitching smart? He was protecting a one run lead ^_~ No reason to challenge the guy if you can get away with it. Which, unfortunately, they did.

I was listening to the game; I found it frustrating (like, HOW CAN THEY NOT HIT JEFF WEAVER?) 'til Swisher got the guys back within one. I was glad Johnson got a few more hits. But mostly I felt for Dan when he left while the team was still trailing. I really wanted a win for him in this game. And reading his postgame quotes doesn't make me feel any better! I know he has faith in the team and his teammates, but he sounds pretty down on himself.

teehee.. 24..

I don't watch it, but I know how it works. & I remember I was listening to the radio after the game 2 weeks ago, & they were talking about it:

"Do you know the best way to end that show 24? Daylights Savings Time."

Thought you'd like that.. [laughs]

From: [identity profile] ayrdaomei.livejournal.com

lol, NO. That would be horrible. The last hour is when the bad guys finally get theirs!

Yes, and thank you for pulling them through for me. :-) I was at the Toyota Center pulling the Aeros to their second win of the playoffs. *is hoarse again*

I say change your default icon if there's another that calls to you. I so seldom post using my default icon that it doesn't matter much what it is. Heh. And yeah, I associate you with that icon, but there are others that have just as strong an association, if not stronger. Just my two cents. And sorry about the rainout. :-(

Well, so long as it's for a good cause ^_~

I say change your default icon if there's another that calls to you.

There isn't really. And this default is really the first one I've ever liked enough to not feel the need to switch icons when I'm replying to comments. It's not necessarily that I want to change, I guess. I'm just surprised I've stuck with this one for so long.

Indeed...have to rest up today if I'm going to the park tomorrow, though!

Fair enough. I like it. :-)

I have no idea what the hell is going on in Kansas City.
If you mean how they won, don't ask me, but I think it has something to do with Paul Byrd sucking hardcore in April. If you mean the ejections, essentially what happened is this:
German stole a base when the Royals were up 7-0. The next time he came up to bat, Guthrie hit him with pitch (it's pretty obviously on accident. It's one of the clips here (http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/gameday_recap.jsp?ymd=http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/gameday_recap.jsp?ymd=20060422&content_id=1413280&vkey=recap&fext=.jsp&c_id=cle&partnered=rss_cle20060422&content_id=1413280&vkey=recap&fext=.jsp&c_id=cle&partnered=rss_cle).) This was the first HBP of the game, but the umps felt it was retributive and immediately eject Guthrie, who is so in shock he doesn't argue but just stands there like a deer in the headlights (note this was his first game with the big club this season). Eric Wedge takes umbrage with this, and comes out to argue this, screaming the word "bullshit" at the top of his lungs on multiple occasions. He gets ejected as well, but doesn't leave until he's gotten his money's worth out of yelling at umps. Brian Slocum comes on to replace Guthrie in his first appearance in the majors ever. Totally screws up, gives up two runs, then freaking DRILLS meinkeiwitcz, but somehow doesn't get ejected for hitting a guy on purpose. Don't ask me, dude.

LOL. He does. Poor guy.

You weren't kidding! You can really hear Wedge giving the umps what for in that clip. WAY TO GO SOUND CREW. Also, he looks kind of insane here. (http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/gameday_recap.jsp?ymd=20060422&content_id=1413280&vkey=recap&fext=.jsp&c_id=cle)

Yeah, that was fairly strange. He totally seemed to be staring him down after, to boot. Maybe the ump felt like a dumbass for overreacting on Guthrie. I try to rationalize this stuff, but it's pretty much completely friggin' arbitrary.

oh. From the Indians.com notes today:
Brian Slocum is still rather new to this whole relief work thing. So he had never had to make an emergency appearance without warming up in the bullpen, as can happen when a pitcher gets hurt or ejected.

Sure enough, Slocum's big-league debut came in just such a situation Saturday. After Jeremy Guthrie was tossed for pegging Esteban German with a pitch in the sixth, Slocum got the quick call.

"There's a first for everything," Slocum said.

Slocum had a shaky debut, giving up a pair of runs on three hits over two innings. He also hit Doug Mientkiewicz with a pitch, causing the veteran to jaw with him on his way to first. Mientkiewicz, though, later told reporters he overreacted in the heat of the moment.

"Obviously, I wasn't trying to throw at his head," Slocum said.

Slocum said he settled down as the outing progressed. And he learned a valuable lesson about life in a big-league 'pen.

"You've just got to be ready for anything," he said. "Anything can happen. [Saturday's game] was a good example."

My thoughts exactly, only with the exception of replacing Ethichs with employment security or which ever book I'm supposed to be glued to at the moment. ;) Michael and Jack would be so much more entertaining to spend my time with. *lol*

Totally associate it with you. In fact, I thought it was an artsy photo of you at first. ;-)

I stuck with that black square icon for a whole year, but that icon was to show mourning for my grandmother. Otherwise I tend to change it about every four months or so.

In fact, since my Bond phase has gone into hibernation (that is, until the new flick Casino Royale comes out) I think I'm going to look into changing it into something new.

Most likely ORIOLES RELATED. |8-P
