Alright, ballgame tonight, which means I need to have a productive morning/afternoon of learning how to be all ethical but first:

1.) the Marlins FINALLY held on to win a one-run game. Mikey J had 2 hits, re-cracked the Mendoza line, scored a run, and knocked in a run. But more importantly, THEY DID NOT BLOW IT IN THE NINTH. I'm so friggin' happy. My babies are all grown up. And savin' China. Uggla stole home, his first major league stolen base, which was fun at the time, but I'm already tired of hearing about it.

2.) Sal Fasano is with the Phillies now? And he is, seriously, rocking the most laughable facial hair I have seen on anyone, ever, in the history of modern baseball. It's some handlebar mustache thing? It's very special. He's got an entire fanclub (Fasano's Pizanos?) and they all wear fake mustaches, and apparently sometimes he has pizza sent up to them in the stands.

3.) That pic on the mlb homepage of Dave Roberts and Doug Mirabelli? I am in love with that pic.

4.) [Bad username or site: rickenbacker / @ livejournal.com] informs me that the hitherto unsubstantiated rumors about an engagement for Mulder were confirmed last night, by the Cardinals on air personalities. Discuss amongst yourselves, make a personal note of it, work it into whatever theory you have about the weird Zito-Mulder dynamic since the trade, mark it as Yet Another Thing You Didn't Want To Know...it's up to you.

[Bad username or site: rickenbacker / @ livejournal.com] has declared today will be a Beck-fest; I dunno if that's gonna make her feel better or worse about this whole engagement thing, but I have to go read about professional responsibility, so I think she's got the better end of this deal.

A's also won last night, which makes me happy, though I didn't stay up for the game. Strained right something or another for Bobby Crosby? Good Lord, people. There is injury-prone, and then there is injury-prone. Kielty was optioned back to Sacramento. I feel for him; he was SO happy to be back. And, check out the notes at the bottom of that article. Apparently, it's not just New York. Zito's gonna be driving me crazy with comments like that all year. Jeez. [Bad username or site: roxybritain / @ livejournal.com] says I should become a full-time A's fan, but she knows not what she speaks of. I would announce myself a full-fledged A's fan, and the next day, the A's charter would disappear off the radar somewhere over Montana, never to be seen or heard from again. Also, following a west coast team on east coast time? For the birds. But people should feel free to come sit with me on the back of the bandwagon. I get to let my feet hang over the back. Fun times.

Also, OMG, you guys Derek Bell! A crack fiend. Mulder committed to some woman, and Derek Bell a crack fiend. What the hell is the universe coming to. Also, can you not be doing crack IN YOUR CAR? Little thing called "the privacy of your own home," dude. All I remember about Bell, besides the kind of ugly way he rolled out of baseball, is he had a really easy smile, and it was one of my favorite smiles in the game. And he totally hung out with Garth that one spring Garth spent at ST with the Mets. Heh.

So alls I have to do is wear a fake 'stache and sit through a Phillies game and there is a good chance I could get some free pizza? Count me in!

From: [identity profile] ayrdaomei.livejournal.com

lol, well you have to pay for your ticket to get into the game. So it might just be easier to buy yourself a pizza. And then you don't have to wear a mustache OR watch baseball :-P

WHY are there NO comments about a certain orange and black wearing team who managed to BEAT THE YANKEES LAST NIGHT IN DRAMATIC FASHION HMMM????

)8-P

I cannot imagine Mulder getting married. He doesn't seem like the marrying type.

Poor Bobby...I was a fan from back in his days with the Twins (before they earned my UNDYING ENMITY).

From: [identity profile] ayrdaomei.livejournal.com

Was it dramatic? Did the Yanks try to rally? I was watching the Marlins :-P I think the O's were up 6-3 or something when I last saw the score. I am glad for you, and [Bad username or site: bisquickgoddess / @ livejournal.com], and my brother, that the Orioles managed to hold on for the win. I'll talk about the Orioles when the words "Orioles", "Melvin Mora" and "have worked out a contract extension" all appear in the same sentence in a press release on the Orioles website.

I cannot imagine Mulder getting married. He doesn't seem like the marrying type.

It was the whole living on his own in St Louis thing. He needed people around him, like in Oakland, and in his emotional confusion, he misunderstood his feelings to be some desire to settle down ^_~

You hate the Twins? lol, since when? Is this related to Doug in some way?

From: [identity profile] owllover711.livejournal.com

Chris Ray made it VERY EXCITING!

Well! I guess NOW I see what the beef is about. ;-P Seriously though, I must say I totally sympathize AND agree that MelMo must remain with us. I think B-Rob would be heartbroken to see him go, amongst other reasons...

Poor Mulder...always the last to figure himself out. ;-)

Ah, that's right; you weren't on my FL when all that went down, LOL. Yeah, I was incensed over Doug's being run out of Minnesota. I thought they did character assassination on him something fierce. Also, I never was happy about the Red Wings leaving the Orioles' farm system, so any support I'd shown for the Twins was rather forced to begin with. The worst part of it was I'd kind of liked watching Justin F***ing Morneau play for the Red Wings (all right, I really liked the bastard) and then when the Twinkies started to favor him over my boy Doug...not a nice feeling. So now I hope the Twinkies get contracted, or fall into the ocean. D-8( Just seeing Morneau or Joe Mauer on TV raises my blood pressure...don't even mention Gardenhire. ARGH.

So indeed, I hate the Twins. I LOATHE THEM. *spits*

Heh, I just watched the ninth. It was nice to see some enthusiasm out of the bench; even Bedard was getting into it. I saw the end of one of the Cleveland games I think (or maybe it was the Angels) and the team had won, and I don't think I saw a single person but Dave Cash even crack a smile. Anyway, Perlozzo's double fist pump last night was kind of hilarious.

So indeed, I hate the Twins. I LOATHE THEM. *spits*

Man, I had no idea! **makes a note**

roxybritain says I should become a full-time A's fan

ummm...havent you already?

Not speaking about the other thing yet.

From: [identity profile] ayrdaomei.livejournal.com

ummm...havent you already?

**laughs** I don't think so. I think I've seen maybe 2 games since the start of the season. I would imagine it's not real, committed fandom until you start re-arranging your sleeping schedule to watch their games. And, you know, one should probably be able to name the entire roster.

Not speaking about the other thing yet.

What other thing? There is no other thing. There are five lights.

From: [identity profile] roxybritain.livejournal.com

I can't name all 25 guys, but I can at least name the rotation, regular starting line-up (and some alternates), and the usual relievers. :) I can kinda sorta name height/weight, hometown, and age. And Chavez has the same birthday as I do (only he's five years older).

I'm not worried. We'll win you over yet. =P If, say, Harden were to pitch 8 full innings again (or even a complete game), you'd stay up for it. No one wants to miss that little pants tug he does after every pitch. It's just too good.

I'm not sure what surprises me more, Mulder being engaged or Crosby being injured YET AGAIN. Both make me sad.

THERE. ARE. FOUR!! LIGHTS!!!

Hey, one of the best TNG two-parters ever! ;-P

(aren't there any other Trekfen around here? YEEEESH.)

But more importantly, THEY DID NOT BLOW IT IN THE NINTH.

my jaw is still on the floor! :D *dances*

From: [identity profile] maggiesox.livejournal.com

He also has Sal's Pals.

Yes. Two fan groups, despite hitting .108.

That's Philly for you. We'd rather you be colorful than good.

From: [identity profile] ayrdaomei.livejournal.com

**laughs** What? Man, if I were Lieberthal, I might start to take that shit personally. He's been with you guys for ten minutes!

I had no idea, btw, that Philly had this whole Italian population. The Marlins announcers were very taken with the whole Sal Fasano thing.

From: [identity profile] maggiesox.livejournal.com

Oh, yeah. South Philly (as in, where the stadium is located) is heavily Italian.

Lieberthal sucks ass, so he can take my foot in his rear personally.

From: [identity profile] ayrdaomei.livejournal.com

HA. Okay, so, not so colorful in a good way, this Lieberthal guy? Cause I did see he was hitting like .300 or something :-P

From: [identity profile] poisonavery.livejournal.com

Lieberthal's old news. Sal is NEW AND EXCITING!

Er, I suppose that's the angle they're working, anyway.

From: [identity profile] maggiesox.livejournal.com

He's colorful, but he...I don't like him. He's a human strikeout machine. I'm amazed he's batting .300.

From: [identity profile] roxybritain.livejournal.com

Last night's A's game was just... yeah. The final out of the game was a called interference on the Angel's catcher. And we were losing for a big portion of the game, so I was pretty convinced Harden would either get the L or a no decision. Oh boy, was I wrong - I will never doubt my boy again! :) Now, if only the offense could come through like that for everyone ELSE in the rotation. But yeah, other than the fourth inning, Harden looked pretty good.

Yeah, Crosby has a strained right tricep. Mysterious and unexplained. That f***er.

From: [identity profile] ayrdaomei.livejournal.com

Okay, I rarely ask this question, but it's driving me kinda crazy. What the hell does your icon say?

And we were losing for a big portion of the game, so I was pretty convinced Harden would either get the L or a no decision.

Oh man, I love a comeback. And for them to do it against the A's must have been especially satisfying ^_~ Hopefully Dan will be on point again today, and the bats can back him up too.

Yeah, Crosby has a strained right tricep. Mysterious and unexplained. That f***er.

The hell? Weirdness. Huston and Bobby need to chill out with the overaggressive pillow fights.

From: [identity profile] roxybritain.livejournal.com

I have no idea what my icon says, since I didn't make it. All I know is, it's Crosby, and I love Crosby :) Except when he gets injured for no apparent reason. I think he and Huston have been fighting over Harden again. Which suddenly makes me think of that Brandy and Monica song, "The Boy Is Mine."

for the record, to me it looks like it says "bobby crosby" and then backwards "number 7" but it cuts off some of the letters because of where the text is placed on the icon.

From: [identity profile] ayrdaomei.livejournal.com

AH. I got the number 7, but for some reason I was convinced it said Bobby Arc and I was like ...what? I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT THAT MEANS.

So. Yeah. I overthink things a lot.

Glad the Marlins and A's won last night. My boys also won. *ahem* ;-)

Yeah, I'm very much WTF over the whole Derek Bell thing.

From: [identity profile] ayrdaomei.livejournal.com

LOL. I knew that! Franchise record's now at .500, I think I read somewhere. WELL DONE :-P

Right you are! I'm so proud of them, and I'll pass your congratulations along. ;-)

There's a crack/Killer B joke in here somewhere, but I must not want it enough.

From: [identity profile] ayrdaomei.livejournal.com

It's the weather; it's making you lazy ^_~ It's okay, the news is still fresh; you've got time :-P

From: [identity profile] acroarcs.livejournal.com

Man, hours go by and all I can come up with is for Bell to move to DC and start some new Killer B's with Marion Barry. I am teh suck.
