You mean there's a chance she won't actuallyu spend the next 48 hours in a bar crying in her bitters about how the Red Sox are a bunch of backstabbing fucktards? HE GAVE THEM A HOMETOWN DISCOUNT AND THIS IS WHAT THEY DO? and so on and so forth?
I'm breathing just fine. I'm not a Bronson fanboy by any stretch of the imagination, but I just get used to certain players being around and then they get sent off without any warning, and... yeah. It'll take a few days to readjust. (As opposed to going into rehab, which is why I'm glad Varitek and Wakefield are never, ever going to go anywhere. Never! You hear me?)
Man, if Varitek doesn't retire from baseball a member of the Boston Red Sox then there really is no law, there is no decency.
I know what you mean, kinda. I mean, just generally as a fan, it kinda sucks when you get used to somebody being around. I remember when we had our mini-firesale in '00 and we traded Bordick and Surhoff. At the time I was just stunned. Granted, we got BJ back and we got MelMo out of the Bordick deal....BUT STILL.
Plus, I'm gonna admit that as much as the Sox have fallen out of favor with me since '04, it is sad to seeing another bite the dust.
Ahahaha. It's so cute that you're trying to talk hockey at me. I don't speak that ice and skates mess. Arroyo's no Great One though, so I'm gonna say ixnay on that first. And he's not an asshole, so it's probably not much like the third either. But let me check in with my hockey peeps and get back to you ^_~
Myr actually did quite well in her assessment, considering she's not a hockey fan! ;-)
I'd say none of the above. Arroyo had only been with the Red Sox for three seasons, and he started out in Pittsburgh, so there wasn't the strong association between him and the team that we had with either Gretzky and the Oilers or Clark and the Nordiques. And yeah, he's a sweet guy, so not like Roenick. *laughs* From what I gather, it's a bit more like Lindros going from the Nordiques to the Flyers...more of a "trading away potential" feeling. Time will tell if Bronson will have the kind of longevity with the Reds that Lindros had in Philly, so I'm not sure if that's even a good comparison. Anyway, looks like folks have calmed down a bit now. :-)
I'm glad you expected it, to some degree; that it wasn't a complete gut kick. I can understand why you'd be angry. I think it's kind of foul, since he did cut them a break to sign there. But hey. They keep telling us baseball is just a business :-/
Liking this trade more and more as the sentimentality wears off. I've seen Wily Mo hit some absolute BOMBS. I've always liked Bronson, though. He had this knack for pulling himself up just when he was about to be spanked. Still, I can't help but love the push to get younger. I just hope we can find enough at-bats for him.

But of course. :-) I saw it and thought, "Wow, a sports conversation to which I can contribute!" But you did quite well for starters. ;-)
