[Poll #649254]
You know what amuses me about polls? Invariably, some random person will take it. Someone I've never seen or spoken to on lj before. And I'll be left going "..." Also, sometimes you people tell me really off the wall things. I'm just saying.

If anyone likes Joss, I posted these to [livejournal.com profile] ysi_leftovers a few days ago:

ETA:
Someone save my sanity - what's that song from the early 90s, there's a line about sending a postcard, and a cat, and in the video the guy's got that long shaggy hair that guys wore in the '90s? I think maybe the girl had left him to go out west or they had both gone out west and life wasn't what they were expecting.

Yeah, I know that's not helpful. But if I could remember more of the lyrics I would have googled it already :-P
Thank you, [Bad username or site: new_world_smurf / @ livejournal.com]!

Edit 2:
That's not to say, however, that the Orioles won't listen to Tejada offers if another club is seriously interested. Intriguing names mentioned included Astros Roy Oswalt and Brad Lidge -- from SI's truth & rumors

Helloooo, nurse. I would be on that like white on rice. How much longer is Oswalt signed for? :-P And nice job landing Patterson, gang. 'Cause the last struggling outfielder we grabbed from the Cubs worked out so well. See, Miggy? Told you we were committed to contention.

I knew you had good taste. ;-) I'm not sure, but I'll try and figure it out for you. (Of course, I'd like to re-sign him when his contract's up, but you knew that.)

I googled it right quick - it looks like he signed a 2 year extension at the start of the '05 season. So that would be a sucky deal for us, since we'd only have him for a year before he'd bolt like...a boltin' thing.

It was nice to think about for a couple minutes, though :-P

Yes indeed.

before he'd bolt like...a boltin' thing.

This made me smile. Because you're witty...not because I'm pleased at the prospect of your team keeping him for a short while. ;-)

Here's foxports.com's take on Tejada:

Everett's name was also in the mix? Innnnnnnnteresting. As ever, I do agree with Ken that we lose nothing by listening to offers. Miggy's steady, but he's never been particularly clutch, and one of the most important things I thought he brought to the table was his energy and enthusiasm. If he doesn't want to be in Baltimore, I think we lose out on a big part of what he contributes, even if he shows up every day, you know?

Right, because lack of energy and enthusiasm is just as contagious (if not more so).

If I stumble across a random poll from someone I don't know, I'm always tempted to take it anway. But I usually don't because that would be weird. :D

**laughs** It is weird! And sometimes I can figure out who we have in common, or there's a community we're both members of, and that's fine, I figure they saw my post checking friendsfriends or something. But other times, there's nothing! And I check out their user infos and we don't have a thing in common and I'm just left to be all paranoid about it.

The song's called "Jessie" by Joshua Kadison (sp?). One hit wonder.

Yes! Thanks so much; it was driving me nuts. I must have confused that line about her pictures for postcards :-P Heh. No forgetting about that damn cat, though.

Thank you! I actually "celebrated" yesterday, but I'm headed home this weekend for a belated but much more Eid-y celebration with the family and a cousin who's visiting from Morocco :-P

I knew I was a bit belated for the start of the holiday, but I figured BLTN. Glad you're getting to go home, and enjoy the time with your family!
