For those of you (in the US) who were planning on stocking stuffing with movies/box sets this holiday season, DDD is running their semi-annual 20% off sale again. Not sure for how much longer, but the coupon code NYTIMES is still good. I'm finally getting the ginormous BoSox World Series set ($62), and probably American Gothic (the complete series - $28), the special edition of Office Space ($12), the first two seasons of Def Poetry Jam ($19), and Space: Above And Beyond (the complete series - $29). At least that's what's in my cart as of this morning.
Stuff I Was Tempted To Get But Continue to Pass On:
Quantum Leap (S1) - $24
Lost (S1) - $30
Alias (S1) - $28
Alias (S4) - $30
Deadwood (S1) - $55
Babylon 5 (S4) - $60
Rescue Me (S1) -$24
Keen Eddie (Complete Series) - $23
The Dead Zone (S3) - $17
Star Trek: The Original Series (Complete Series) - $205
Sylvia - $8
Blue's Clues (assorted episodes) - $5
Mystery Science Theatre 3000 (assorted volumes) - $28
I usually like to add the Farscape sets to my shopping cart for kicks, but I got a "sorry, this product is unavailable" message on every one. Interesting. I hate HBO's pricing scheme, yo. I really want Deadwood, but $55 for a 13 ep show? Is still too damn expensive. Please put the crack pipe down, HBO sales department.
Also, will someone please, please explain to me why on earth someone thought we needed 8MM 2? Were not enough people SCARRED FOR LIFE by the first film? Jeezy Chreezy. And this second one can't possibly have Joaquin in it, so yeah, I'm a little confused as to why they thought it was necessary.
Anyway, if you've never shopped with DDD before, they're super reliable, and shipping somehow manages to be both free and pretty quick. So. Have at 'em.

Looks like you lucked out ^_^ I asked a friend of mine about the weird message I was getting and it looks like ADV told DDD that they didn't want their products to be part of the sale :-/ So Farscape and several anime titles are "unavailable" until the 20% off promotion is over.
And 8MM 2 looks to have been a straight to video release. Which...yeah. I still don't know >.>
