++ Wow. I just tried Antique Lace and I am sooooooooo glad I never succumbed to the temptation to pay a bazillion dollars for it on ebay or something. It's pure plasticky vanilla on me. Ugh. And speaking of bpal...[Bad username or site: alchemylab / @ livejournal.com]? Has just gotten INSANE. Insane.

++ Dontrelle Willis won the Cy Young. Will wonders never cease?

Just kidding :-P They totally haven't announced yet. [Okay, they just announced. Carp won, 20 points ahead in the final count over Willis -- Ed.]

++ Raffy won't be charged with perjury. Which I hope means we've heard the last of him for awhile. But I'm sure I've got an icon that talks about being that optimistic.

++ For those curious about Reese's voice work in Walk The Line:

Johnny Cash & June Carter - Jackson

Joaquin Phoenix & Reese Witherspoon - Jackson

++ Folks who chat with me on AIM: I feel the need to put this out there, since I'm spending more time on AIM than I have in a really long while, and I'm probably off on the etiquette...but honestly? If I'm logged in on AIM, and not away? I'm still probably doing 5 or 6 other things while chatting with you, so if I don't respond for a couple minutes, for the love of God, it is not necessary to be all "hey, you still there?" and "hello?" and all that. It drives me nuts. Seriously. I'm sorry if it makes me a bitch that I'm not giving you my undivided attention, but that's just how I roll.

Also, please, please, please don't IM me the second I log on. Because sometimes, oftentimes, I'm just logging on to check for someone who I haven't been able to get in touch with in another way, and when I'm doing that, I'm usually pressed, and I hate to log off without responding, but I just don't have time to explain that I'm not hanging around.

So. Yeah. That's all. I wish it weren't so warm here, it's throwing me off :-/

*smile* I love that icon. And yeah, I think you're right.

We're saying the same thing down here...we're slightly more used to it, but still, it's November.

Have a good one!

Totally!

I will, now that my seemingly interminable Shepards is done. Many thanks to Juanes for that! I get to move on to creating annotations for the Texas Rules of Civil Procedure (and that's actually not as bad as it sounds). :-)

Dontrelle Willis won the Cy Young.
You bastard! This was just for me wasn't it? I am so not going to give you the satisfaction of telling you I went "WTF?" over & over again before I continued reading.

And that was after I sat there going "No, he didn't, Colon won the Cy - wait no Dtrain is in the NL - but that means Carp didn't..?" Yeah, on any given day I know that Dtrain is in the NL, but seeing anyone but Carpenter's name as the winner of the NL Cy didn't compute, so my brain made a splitsecond decision and put Dtrain in the AL.

Anyway, I hate you :P

I wish it weren't so warm here
I wish it were warm here like it was two days; I'd be out playing baseball.

dontrell won the cy young? i was expecting it to be carpenter or clemens, and not even close . . .

From: [identity profile] caruso.livejournal.com

oh and i just checked out the link, and it doesn't say he won it anywhere. where did you see it?

From: [identity profile] ayrdaomei.livejournal.com

**laughs** That's what you get for skimming! Try reading the next couple sentences after the link...like the part where I said I was j/k ^_~

From: [identity profile] caruso.livejournal.com

how close was carp to clemens? or did clemens' lack of offense kill him?

and wtf is up with ESPN simulating GM conferences with steve phillips?

From: [identity profile] ayrdaomei.livejournal.com

I didn't see, the MLB alert just said he won over Willis by 20 points, I think.

And I have no idea. Jeff and I were talking about those the other day. So fucking lame.

From: [identity profile] caruso.livejournal.com

ah. i wonder where you can look that stuff up. baseball-reference?

i wonder if they'll get to us or if they'll only do the "good" teams :P stupid ESPN.

From: [identity profile] ayrdaomei.livejournal.com

Actually, I'm pretty sure that if the individual tallies aren't up already, they'll be up shortly. I know the MLB.com article showed the vote breakdown for the AL Cy Young.

And I believe they're doing all 30 teams; I'm not sure of the order though, and I don't know which teams have already been done. I know one day they did the Yanks and then the next day it was the Cubs, so...

From: [identity profile] caruso.livejournal.com

okay, well i'll keep my eye out for the tigers fake press conf. maybe d2 could learn a thing or two. :P like how he should go for matt morris too.

From: [identity profile] ayrdaomei.livejournal.com

Check out this espn article for the vote breakdown (http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2219739). Clemens got killed. Only 2 first place votes, and only 2 second place votes.

that kind of comes as a surprise to me. since, like, gammons was all blowing smoke up rogah's ass and all . . .

From: [identity profile] ayrdaomei.livejournal.com

You're like the second person in as many days to seem surprised Gammons was wrong about something. I realize he's in the HOF, but he's been something of a dumbass for years. The end.

From: [identity profile] caruso.livejournal.com

i'm not terribly surprised gammons was wrong, i'm more suprised it wasn't even close. 'cause the way he was going it seemed like a lot more writers were in clemens' court.

You just mentioned the reasons I only have about 4 friends on IM--the ettiquete drives me nuts.

MSN Messenger has an option that you can set it to "appear offline" when you first log in. Then you can check to see who's online and decide whether to "appear" or not. Not sure if AIM has that.

From: [identity profile] ayrdaomei.livejournal.com

MSN Messenger has an option that you can set it to "appear offline" when you first log in. Then you can check to see who's online and decide whether to "appear" or not. Not sure if AIM has that.

The problem with AIM is there's no way to set your visibility preferences before logging on. At least not that I've determined. So sure, once you log on, you can set yourself to invisible, or put up an away message, but there's always those couple seconds in the beginning where everyone can see that you've logged on :-P D'oh!

From: [identity profile] ayrdaomei.livejournal.com

That's because she hates you.

Also, you have like 1,230 different SNs, half of them for the express purpose of ducking people, so I really hope you're not trying to feel snubbed ^_~

From: [identity profile] caruso.livejournal.com

GASP!!!!

:P

well, all the cool kids know my million SNs ;p

From: [identity profile] natural-center.livejournal.com

I only got AIM a little bit ago and have 1 person on there, I think. When I get home I'll tell you my screenname. I've had MSN for a while but you don't use it, right?

From: [identity profile] caruso.livejournal.com

i actually just installed MSN but for some reason, it doesn't work all the time. i'm darthxchelios :P

yeah, that'd be me. IN PAIN! *spaz spaz*

From: [identity profile] ayrdaomei.livejournal.com

Awww. It'll get better, dear. I mean just think, on the grand scale of things that suck, it could be much much worse. I mean, it's not Dontrelle was traded to the Yankees or anything :-P And it's not like people haven't acknowledged that he pitched well; he was the ESPN pick to win :-/

From: [identity profile] jaredsexual.livejournal.com

it's not Dontrelle was traded to the Yankees or anything

OMG DON'T SAY THAT EVER AGAIN EVER!!!! :P

You're right, though. It could be worse. And I'll get over it. I wouldn't be surprised if I've moped more than Dontrelle. *is pathetic* :-D

From: [identity profile] ayrdaomei.livejournal.com

OMG DON'T SAY THAT EVER AGAIN EVER!!!! :P

Heh, sorry. But after Moose, it's sort of my automatic response to anyone complaining about anything that happens with one of their favorite pitchers :-P ("Oh, Halladay broke his leg and is out for 2 months? WELL AT LEAST HE DIDN'T ABANDON YOU AND SIGN WITH THE YANKEES." :-P)

From: [identity profile] scornedsaint.livejournal.com

Ooer, you're on IM? We'll have to chat sometime; I'm normally doing a hundred things too, so it sounds like we'd be a perfect match.

I don't quite get BPAL. I know people are obsessed with it, but was is it, exactly?

From: [identity profile] ayrdaomei.livejournal.com

**laughs** Well, my AIM SN is in my userinfo ^_^

I don't quite get BPAL. I know people are obsessed with it, but was is it, exactly?

BPAL is an online company that sells perfumed essential oils (http://blackphoenixalchemylab.com/welcome.html). A lot of people who have allergy problems with regular perfume prefer to wear the oils. It's a fun but expensive hobby, because there's sort of a pokemon "collect them all!" aspect to it. There are all these different "collections" of scents, like there's a set of oils inspired by the poetry of Poe, and there's a collection of stuff inspired by the works of Shakespeare, and the like.

Oh, and I should say, mostly people trade little perfume vial sized samples of the oils, and if you like something, you can order a bigger bottle of it ^_^

From: [identity profile] scornedsaint.livejournal.com

Heh. I didn't meant to sound too "OMG she has IM!" amazed. Most of my friends rarely use it anymore, me included, so I guess I've fallen out of habit for looking for it.

So the Mystery of BPAL is unlocked. I'll have to look it up (but I am much too happy with my Clinique, er, Happy to get something else right now. And also, I do not need an expensive hobby)

From: [identity profile] ayrdaomei.livejournal.com

I didn't meant to sound too "OMG she has IM!" amazed. Most of my friends rarely use it anymore, me included, so I guess I've fallen out of habit for looking for it.

**laughs** It's okay, you didn't really. And I'm glad to hear it wasn't just me. I stopped using it for almost 2 years, and I thought I was the only one who wasn't crazy about it.

And also, I do not need an expensive hobby

Heh, I know. The oils themselves aren't terribly expensive. A sample vial that can be good for as many as 15+ applications depending on how much you use? Only costs $3.00. And a 5ml (approx 6 vials worth) costs $12.50. The thing of it is you end up liking sooooooo many different scents that it all adds up pretty quickly. Especially if you're a dumbass like me, who feels the need to buy big bottles of EVERYTHING even though there's no way a person can possibly wear so much >.>

From: [identity profile] raisingrrl22.livejournal.com

hee! thanks for posting the "jackson" duo. I'm at the library (hoco public, baby) right now, so not so much with the sassy belting, but when I get home...watch out.

I love that you belong to a gang with a name now (referring to comments on previous post). well done, you.

yeah, that part of aim is superannoying (annyong, what?)--and that may be why I, too, never ever use it.
