This is from last week, but if you haven't read it, it's still kinda funny. Especially now that we're a week away from the strum und drang that followed The Announcement.

Five days into the Post-Theo Era, I suggest everyone drink a nice big glass of Calm Down.

Yes, Theo is an intelligent guy who did an excellent job as the general manager and he can probably do many other things very well in life. But he still was a baseball general manager for crying out loud, not the Chairman of the Joint Chief of Staffs, the director of Habitat for Humanity or the guy who developed Google. I mean, White Sox general manager Kenny Williams just accomplished the exact same thing as Theo and with a much smaller payroll. And I don't see anyone anointing Williams as an irreplaceable genius.
-- Jim Caple, Searching For St. Theo.

Oh, Jimbo, I think that should be Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff? Like Courts Martial? I could be wrong.

So what's with this nonsense in the air about the Sox and Theo still possibly working something out? Cause that would be crazy.

Also, this cover splash for the steroid story? Thanks ESPN. That guy's arms? I'm so disturbed.

Flanny on re-signing BJ Ryan: "I think we are optimistic." Yeah? I think you're on crack, Flanny.

ETA: Raffy's released his "explanation". Which is to say, he said the same exact thing that was leaked before:

In a statement released by his lawyer, Palmeiro acknowledged several facts of his case that already had been reported, including that the anabolic steroid stanozolol was found in his system in May, and that he had raised the possibility that a shot of vitamin B12 he took in April "might have been the cause."

"I have never intentionally taken steroids," Palmeiro said in the statement.

For the love of God, SHUT UP AND GO AWAY AND NEVER COME BACK.

I KNOW. I see his name and it's like DIE, DIE, AND DIE SOME MORE. Which is no good. So he should just stop getting his name in print.
