What is with Jeter's supposed boys ripping him in magazine interviews? First it was A-Rod in that Esquire piece a couple years back, and now Sheffield, because he hasn't talked out of his ass enough this season, has something to add:


"I know who the leader is on the team," Sheffield said in an explosive New York magazine interview set to hit newsstands Monday. "I ain't going to say who it is, but I know who it is. I know who the team feeds off. I know who the opposing team comes in knowing they have to defend to stop the Yankees."

Excuse me while I stand over in the corner making instigator noises, high school hallway fight style. Or maybe I'll just die laughing at the suggestion that Gary Sheffield is more of a leader on the New York Yankees than Jeter is. (Am I reading that implication wrong?)

And he goes on to diss Alex as well:

"Why shouldn't I tell the truth?" Sheffield told writer Stephen Rodrick. "I ain't trying to get no Pepsi commercial."

Mwahahaha. I thought Alex was your jewel, Gary? Guess that honeymoon is over. Apparently he also rants about how the Yankees have no family values as compared to oh, the Dodgers. Yeah. Let's ask Derek Lowe about the family values of the Dodgers.

Dude, when are they gonna let us lowly folks who didn't get permies buy another 50 extra userpics? I need room for a Sheffield icon in the worst way.

Man, it was only like weeks ago that he was defending A-Rod's honor with the Sword of Yankee Riteousness or whatever he thought he was wielding. Now he's ragging on him for the Pepsi commercials. Oh Yankees, so fractured is your clubhouse, and so powerful is our glee.

(btw, buying the 50 icons was the best thing evar. only like $6 for 6 months, and i am ever so pleased with them)

Aren't they? ^_^ But you'll soon learn, even 50 icons are not enough! :-P Permanent Account holders are allowed 100 icons, and there was a rumor floating around that LJ would allow people to pay for that many, the same way you can pay for 50 now. That can happen any day now, really :-P

Holy hell Sheffield is a moron. It's amazing, he's actually making me like Derek Jeter (honestly, my severe hatred of him was gone already, replaced by slight annoyance/respect). At least Jeter says the right things and keeps his mouth shut. I'm remembering that quote Sheffield made last year before the season began, something to the effect that he wasn't at all concerned about the Red Sox, and if the Yankees didn't win the World Series, people could come see him. Asshole.

Dude, that's the problem with the whole new flock of Yankees. For the past 3 or 4 years, all the new Yankees have done is make Jeter seem like a decent guy in comparison, and that's fucking annoying.
