OMG, just finished watching It's A Wonderful Life.

**is dead**

What is wrong with you people? Why did none of you introduce me to the awesomeness of this film before now? Especially those of you who know I've owned it for almost a year now and never got off my ass to sit down and watch. I'll have to see it again when I get home because there were way too many commercials worked in (btw, SHUT UP, OLD NAVY CAROLERS. STFU. She is not buying all 14 of her cousins freakin' performance fleece!) and NBC seemed to have been cutting left and right.

I started sniffling when Uncle Billy came in with the collected money. Then when Harry walked in and toasted his brother, I started all out bawling.

Am such a LOSER. I know this. Potter, btw? What a bastard.

I love the way every line out of Jimmy Stewart's mouth comes off naturally, almost to the point where you feel like he's ad-libbed every other sentence. And the casting was so good! But I must bitch about just one thing: that wicked extreme close-up on George as he steps away from Ma Bailey's boarding house. The shot where he looks directly into the camera? Of the no.

Speaking of actors who bring the warm fuzzies...A quick scan of the f-list over the past few days reveals a lot of Finding Neverland love. And that makes me happy ^_^

I love that I can turn to this station for Barack Obama one night, and English sex comedies the next.

"I was very surprised when you got it together with Julia. I'd always pegged you for, you know--"
"Gay?"
"Dying alone."

It's the series 3 finale. Which includes the fun & slashtastic scene where Susan goes to see Steve at the fertility clinic and it turns out Jeff and Patrick are there too. Because he needed lesbian porn and his comfort pillow. *snerk* There is no explanation that in any way legitimizes their presence in that room.

"You're my friend, Sally. And I want to see you with the best. Mr Perfect, Superbly Incredibly Fantastic...iness. That's the kind of man you deserve, and I think you know I'm right."
"I don't want Mr. Perfect Superbly Incredibly Fantastic-iness, you stupid, stupid ass. I want you."
"For God's sake, Sally--"
"What? What?"
"I was talking about me."
"You're Mr Superbly Incredibly Whatever?"
"Well...yes."

Hee! Every time I watch this story-arc, I am geninuely impressed with how invested I become in the Sally/Patrick relationship. I was not a big fan of either character in the first series, and I didn't pay them much mind in the second. But they completely owe the third series.

Now I feel like watching this ep with commentary. Just because Davenport talking about the Spider-Man dance is almost as funny as the Spider-Man dance.

Anyhoo, did not go home for the holiday; stayed here under the pretense of doing work. Actually spent Turkey Day drinking eggnog, watching the Bond marathon on Spike, and eating pie. Remember when Comedy Central used to do MST3K marathons on Thanksgiving? Bond isn't near as fun, but it was easily the best thing going on cable. My mom called in the early afternoon and asked what I was having for dinner, and I told her I'd just taken the pie out of the oven to cool. I think she understood that to mean that I had cooked other things, because of course I wouldn't just have pie. But that is exactly what happened. Pie and eggnog. All day. And James Bond. It was brilliant. Except for the Dalton Bonds, because wtf to those, still.

On Friday, Dom killed the internet, so I spent the majority of that day overhauling my mood theme studying contracts. I did organize my flashcards and type up several weeks of notes. Was mighty proud of me.

Oh, I wanted to share: there's a Discovery special called Becoming Alexander and it is all manner of absolutely hilarious. One would think Colin and those supporting actors were gonna be called in to supplement US forces in Iraq or something. You should check your listings, and you should watch it and you should laugh. You should also have a sip of cider and cheer every time someone says "Morocco" or "Moroccan". It's fun, I promise.

Btw, I want to thank every reviewer who's taken the time to point out that the blond wig on Colin in that film is complete and utter ASS. There is really no excuse.

....and now I seriously need to turn the lights out and hit the mattress. See where watching holiday feel-goods gets you?

btw, SHUT UP, OLD NAVY CAROLERS. STFU. She is not buying all 14 of her cousins freakin' performance fleece!) LMAO I'm glad to see I'm not the only one annoyed by those commercials.

From: [identity profile] schnaucl.livejournal.com

Oh you are most definitely not the only one. I hate hate hate those commercials with a passion.

**laughs** Please, take comfort in my annoyance.

And while we're complaining about ads, why is Folgers still using this old ass ad with Peter's homecoming? My family lives on Folgers coffee, so I know those bastards can afford to film a new commercial. That one's as old as I am!

You owned It's a Wonderful Life and never watched it? For shame. My family watches it every Christmas, along with A Muppet Christmas Carol.

That's right, we like our classics with puppets.

From: [identity profile] ayrdaomei.livejournal.com

Hee! As do I. I have seen that, at least.

It's really sad; I am spectacularly deprived in the classics area. This is totally my dad's fault, I feel. My mom doesn't do American movies, and my dad only watches Westerns. I've only just seen Psycho ^_^ By the time I graduate, I hope to have gotten to Citizen Kane and Casablanca ^_~

From: [identity profile] kikiduck.livejournal.com

Mmmm, Psycho. I am madly in love with Anthony Perkins. I was horribly crushed the first time I saw that movie and he ended up being a whacko-nutjob.

I really liked Citizen Kane. It's a little slow in spots if you're watching it after the first time, but the rest of my family absolutely hates it. I don't understand it. It's Joseph Cotten for crying in the night.

Casablanca... I haven't seen for years. I didn't like it at all then, I don't know if I would not or not. Not a huge Bogart fan.

My family systematically went through the classics section of the local video store ten years ago. They had a good collection, and I saw most of it, but I only remember bits and pieces of them now.

The Grapes of Wreath, Arsenic and Old Lace, The Philadelphia Story... oooooh, and His Girl Friday! And I'm not even going to start down the list of Gregory Peck. Mmmm, Gregory Peck.

I felt so bad for him too! He was quite good in that, and such a woobie. What a face.

My family systematically went through the classics section of the local video store ten years ago.

That sounds like a fun idea! And now that I think about it, I know the law library here has a handful of "law related" classics that we have access to.

The Grapes of Wrath, Arsenic and Old Lace, The Philadelphia Story... oooooh, and His Girl Friday!

Oh, I love those last two! The Philadelphia Story especially, because Hepburn & Grant are awesome together.

And I'm not even going to start down the list of Gregory Peck. Mmmm, Gregory Peck.

**laughs** A friend and I were just having a talk about who would win in a throw-down between Jimmy Stewart and Gregory Peck (I find any excuse not to read for class). I thought James was on the gangly side and Peck was more solidly built, so I put my money on Gregory. What's your favorite film of his? (That is not To Kill A Mockingbird 'cause I did manage to see that one) I'd like to make a note to check it out after finals.

I know you don't know me except as the meme girl for [livejournal.com profile] schnaucl, but I am always thrilled to find new people discovering It's a Wonderful Life, so I just had to drop my two cents. =)

From: [identity profile] ayrdaomei.livejournal.com

**laughs** Hi!

I should thank you, btw. Your sturm und drang over the postponement of the Firefly film reminded me that I've been planning to check that show out for a while. I've been on a dling spree since! I watched the first three eps earlier and am currently waiting for Safe to finish "hashing". Whatever the hell that is. **kicks internet** COME ON. MUST HAVE MORE WASH AND MAL IN MY LIFE.

Also, could Kaylee be any more adorable if she tried? I submit she could not.

Thanks for the new fandom ^_^

Squee! Shiny new fandom for you! Always thrilled to convert another browncoat. =) Yay Safe, I love Safe. Kaylee is the most adorable ever, and one can never have too much of Captain Tight Pants in their life. Hopefully you get the reference. Alright will stop being a squeeing fan girl now. Oh and total icon love, Jimmy Stewart was just the greatest.

Hee! You are not wrong. Although I was upset that his jacket had tails so we were sadly deprived of any look at how those pants flattered his backside ^_~

Yay Safe, I love Safe.

It was great fun - River with the dancing, and Jayne reading Simon's "diary" was hilarious and ooh, the mystery that is Book! And speaking of Simon...**pets** He's all adorable and sacrificing. What a woobie!

Alright will stop being a squeeing fan girl now.

Heh. Okay. Me too.
