+ If you don't like the new LJ default, you can go back to the old style by selecting it under your settings. I had a mini-crisis when I opted to demo the new LJ style a few days ago and it took me a few minutes to figure out how to go back to the old one.
+ Death Cab tickets for their show at The Norva go on sale in a few hours. I'm gonna try for a couple. I have such bad luck with Death Cab, one of those deals where I always find out they're gonna be in town like the day before, or a couple months after the fact. This is the first time I had a heads up, so we'll see if it works out. Paul Oakenfold is also gonna be at The Norva, and I'm torn as to whether I want to go to his show. I usually enjoy his mixes, and dance around my room like a dork when I listen to them, but I'm not at all one to start dancing in a crowd of people, so I'm not sure there's a point to going to see him spin live.
+ A criminal defense attorney named Esther Windmueller came to speak at the law school yesterday, and there was something very familiar about her. It finally came to me - she looks like an older, less fairskinned Claudia Black. They totally coulda been sisters. Same long dark hair, same nose, similar eyes and lips. It was kinda awesome. She's a very passionate, dynamite speaker. I wish I'd known about her last year; I might have been inclined to try to summer with her. Perhaps I'll email her about the possibility of externing with her office next spring. Or perhaps an externship with the Public Defender? Hmm.
+ Of course, OF COURSE, as soon as I go through the hullabaloo of ordering the Mel Brooks set just to get Robin Hood: Men In Tights, the studio goes ahead and re-releases the Men In Tights dvd singly again. I think you can get it for $9.99 most anywhere; it was advertised at that price in the Best Buy circular.
+ [Bad username or site: oakchick75 / @ livejournal.com] stumbled across this little treasure trove of A's video. The clips are available in quicktime or wmv and directly downloadable from the site - THANK YOU, WEBMASTER PERSON. I've downloaded most all of them, haven't watched any. Top of my list are the ones that take us inside the clubhouse and on the A's charter, of course. Then prolly the one on the infamous Buckley, and the one on the A's beatwriters so I can fangirl people besides Susan and Mychael.
Too bad FSN Florida couldn't be arsed to put something like that together with clips from Inside The Marlins.
+ This is an interesting read, even without the pictures that are supposed to accompany it (grr) --> Barry Zito breaks down his curveball.
+ Btw, a few weeks back, I bought one of those 2005 A's mags floating around Ebay. I think most everyone on my f-list has been following the A's far longer than I have, so I don't know - the cover story on Zito becoming the clear staff ace with Huddy and Mulder gone, the story on Dan Haren and the shoes he'll have to fill - anyone not seen those already and want them scanned?
(And magnet people - those are going out today. Sorry for the delay.)
+ I'm starting to set up that tracking feature for tagged posts, so my f-list will be changing a little over the next few days. Probably not gonna be removing too many people; mostly because I've finally conceded to myself that I'm just not likely to get back to that place where I comment on every entry that pops up on my f-list. (And as always, everyday is amnesty defriending day, and if you're inclined to drop me, go with the flow. I'm not one of those people who's gonna go all emo on you.)
+ I'm so behind on my shows! I haven't even seen the last 4 eps of Deadwood. Which might be a good thing - I don't know anyone who wasn't disappointed by how the series ended :/ A little better with Prison Break, I think I'm only an ep back on that one. But more importantly, The Office is back in less than a week! ♥
+ Supreme Court Preview this weekend! Dahlia will be back (yay!) as will John Yoo (boo!), and many others. It's my favorite event at the law school; I just love sitting back and listening to all these minds discuss really big issues. I love listening to the reasoning as they try to anticipate where the Court will fall on certain questions. It's a lot of fun.
ETA: Oh! The Importance of Being <-- this is making the rounds on some mp3 blogs, being touted as a leak from the upcoming Postal Service sophomore effort. A spokesperson for Subpop has denied the track's authenticity, and the people who leaked it are, of course, insisting it's legit. I personally hope it's a fake, because it sounds awful, and doesn't get my blood pumping at all for the new album :/ The story goes that the vocals on the second album will be split between Ben, Jenny Lewis and Jimmy. This is alleged to be a Jimmy track. **shrug** All I know is it sucks.

Speaking of which- Ta-da! (http://img236.imageshack.us/img236/4553/1fishbrewcrewwv8.jpg) I scanned my ticket for the Fish game for you, rather than sending it via snail mail. I just know my dad wouldn't full understand the joy of sharting simple joys such as this, especially with someone online. -_-; But I love you nonetheless. :P
Prison Break = love. Though I'm in the dark on "The Office." A lot of people on my flist seem to love it- mind if I ask what it's about?

Thanks for the scan of the ticket :P I really appreciate it.
I don't mind at all! It's a show about an office of people who work for a company that sells paper :P They have the world's most obnoxious boss, though he doesn't realize he's so obnoxious, and actually thinks he's funny and much beloved of the staff. It's filmed like a documentary, so the characters sometimes have little asides with the camera crew/audience. I think the reason so many people like it is because they really capture a lot of the little nuances of what it's like to work in an office. I love that almost all the characters look and seem like people you could bump into at the grocery store. It's based on a British series of the same name from the late 1990s; the UK show was a huge hit, so they tried an American version. I didn't think it would work, but they've proved me wrong. The heart of the show is the friendship that's slowly developed into something more between Jim, a young salesman in the office, and Pam, the office secretary. It's a really great show - an impressive balance of funny ha-ha and heartfelt emotion. I gave up on it about 5 episodes into the first season - it just seemed to me like an okay show, but too much a replica of the UK version. I started watching the show again about halfway through the second season and just fell in love. I went back to catch what I missed and it seems like the show really came into its own around mid-first season. It still followed some of the general storylines from the UK series, but mostly they started doing their own thing, and it's really worked for them. I recommend it, heartily :P

You are very welcome! I'm just sorry it's not the "real thing."
I'm not the biggest fan for printing my own ticket. It doesn't feel official enough, I get annoyed each time I have to pay to print my own ticket. X_X
Thank you so much for the review! I may have to look into it. ♥

I'm the same way! I much prefer to have an honest to God ticket in my hand, whenever possible. I guess it's also cause I'm a total dork and I hang on to my ticket stubs :P

Have you been following the Office webisodes? I checked the first 3 or so and was mildly amused, but maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea to watch them before the season starts. They might get referenced during the season y'know.

I changed back to the old one too. The new one is far too chunky and primary. And then when I went to the settings I found that you could change comment links and colors without needing complicated overrides. How long has this been around?

What do you think of the new season? I got kinda sick of it last season, to the point that I didn't even watch the finale. But I think it's gotten a lot better the past few episodes. It seems like they (maybe) have direction again.

Agreed! In fact, I told someone that it struck me as 'lj for dummies', but your way of describing it is much more diplomatic.

I want to say I first noticed it a couple of months ago, but I'm not positive.

The show hasn't really grabbed me the same way since it went on the midseason break last year. The first 13 episodes of the first season rank really high on my list of favorite television storyarcs, but since then, I've been kinda meh about it. I'm enjoying this season - I like the addition of the profiler - but I still don't have that OMG I CAN'T WAIT TIL NEXT WEEK feeling that I had watching the first half of last season.

Heh. I try.

Agreed. I think it's going to be hard to recapture that ever, because it was such a unique concept. But for a show that's reimagined major parts of its concept, I must say it's doing well.
(And Sara's hair looks fabulous. I'm so jealous)

Two of my very favorite shows, I'm totally obsessed with Prison Break at the moment. And the long awaited return of The Office has me tingly. *lol* Finally something awesome for which I'm taking breaks from studying and none of this halfway watchable shit I've been wasting time with up until now. =P

I will! I had planned to do an immigration law externship this semester, but I figured I was already taking several classes, and with the job search, I had enough on my plate. But hopefully by next semester, I'll have a job lined up, so I can afford to spend the time trying out something like that.

LOL, I know what you mean. I am quite nervous but also excited to see what the new season will bring.
