Apparently Zito and Chavvy were on BDSSP last night? Why does no one tell me these things? **resents you all** Happily, there was a clip on their website. Download (here). It's about 8minutes, and while it doesn't seem to be the whole appearance, it looks to be a good chunk of it. Highlights: "the chavvy run," mentions of Huddy and Mulder (your question partly answered, Bri), and something that should amuse Jen - jokes on the contents of Z's locker ^_~

Chavvy's not too comfortable talking/joking about Z leaving, is he?

OOH. I totally recorded it! (Ah, the rewards of being too lazy to correct the vcr setting when you overprogram the O's game. Happy day.) Yeah, the clip isn't the whole appearance, the guys go on to play 'Know Your Teammate.' They fail at it, miserably, and hug. Hee.

MLB must have put a foot in people's asses, because both David and Haren finally had updates posted yesterday. Or maybe I have Jen-like powers and sometimes people do what I say. WHO KNOWS. Dan talks about the game on Sunday, and muses about Lost some more, and for serious, I would have a Haren icon, if it wouldn't jinx the hell out of him. I'm getting ready to head out to Richmond but I just had to point out:

Barry Zito and I sat next to each other on the plane back from our road trip and watched last week’s episode of Lost.

Also, he talks some more about Barry and the example Barry sets and if you're not gonna re-sign him then at least plzdon'ttradehimbilly :(

Um.

**coughs** I may have inferred that last part. But seriously, I have so much love for this idea of Sensei!Zito, I can't even tell you. So the renewed trade whispers can please to be stopping now.

Also, Dan, stop making me feel bad for having abandoned Lost like a certain Chalupa Valley mutt was abandoned by his father. And please stop telling me things like your fiancee doesn't know how to use Tivo, because that makes me think mean things about her. The Lost crew apparently also includes Rich and Huston. Why am I not surprised?

David's blog continues to be pretty boring and I would not be surprised if his entries were in fact written by an intern in the Mets PR department. **yawns** I wish his entry had gone up while he was in San Diego, because aside from the passing reference to them having just lost 2 of 3 to the Braves, it sounds like his entry was written before yesterday's game. I would have been interested to see him address the really shitty day he had. I know he's been working on his defense, so three errors in a game against the Braves can't have been fun, and this series must have been upsetting, with all the hype about the Mets unseating the Braves this year. But he just blabs away about how the Mets have new swagger and expect to win every game. Laaaame.

But speaking of the Braves, I'm so happy Huddy finally had a good game. Also, doesn't the paperback version of Aces come out tomorrow? Complete with new 'one year later' forward? **bounces**

OH! And [Bad username or site: johnnybvo / @ livejournal.com] emailed me all:

"The thing about Moose is some days he gets killed..." - Some ESPN guy. Not has a bad day, can't find his rhythm, or struggling to find a pace..."GETS KILLED!" This analyst guy is the best.

And I died laughing of course. I emailed him back to ask if he remembered anything about who it was.

His name was Tino something, he talked really fast jumbling up his words a bit. Ring a bell?

AHAHAHAHAHA. Oh, Tino. Can you not be BRUTALLY HONEST about your ex-teammates? Thanks. Awww, though, at Tino talking all fast and jumbling his words. I'm sure he'll come into his own soon. He's only a couple weeks into this analyst thing.

His name was Tino something, he talked really fast jumbling up his words a bit. Ring a bell?

*ring ring* (And also that's why I gave up on being a communication major, me & words don't get along well.)

Haha. I agree, Leanne does a better less boring David.

From: [identity profile] ayrdaomei.livejournal.com

Hee, maybe we could petition mlbblogs to let her take over :-P Though I think he had something like 400 comments on his last post, so I suppose there are people out there who actually find his posts interesting.

From: [identity profile] rickenbacker.livejournal.com

Dood, I saw/recorded it too!! I should have emailed, I'm a bad friend. I only heard about it just before it happened, when [livejournal.com profile] ron_obsesser shot me an LJ comment about it. Then I got up and literally tripped all over myself to get a blank DVD.

I totally flipped over the Huddy and Mulder mentions. So no, he didn't talk to Mulder but, being Barry, he "sent him some good vibes". Maybe the BDSSP crew will put it in his head to talk to Mark... well, a girl can dream.

oooh and Barry going "we love each other" & him and Chavvy being all touchy!!

Barry Zito and I sat next to each other on the plane back from our road trip and watched last week’s episode of Lost.

Lordy, lordy, lordy... sounds just like that scene in Undercurrent.

I *love* Tino as an analyst!!! I think his nervous fast talking has gotten better already.

From: [identity profile] ayrdaomei.livejournal.com

Maybe the BDSSP crew will put it in his head to talk to Mark... well, a girl can dream.

Ahahaha. No. And whatever on the good vibes thing, dude. CLEARLY MULDER IS DEAD TO HIM.

oooh and Barry going "we love each other" & him and Chavvy being all touchy!!

Hee. Yes. **proceeds to harass you to rip this**

I *love* Tino as an analyst!!! I think his nervous fast talking has gotten better already.

Good. I admit, I haven't seen BBTN in about a week now, so I was hoping.

CLEARLY MULDER IS DEAD TO HIM.

you know, it's very tough to live in denial when you keep YELLING THESE THINGS at me.

though really, it's kind of slashy that way, 'cos really, something had to happen there. but it just doesn't fit into my reality *sweeps the unpleasantness under the rug*

From: [identity profile] ayrdaomei.livejournal.com

Hee. Sorry.

though really, it's kind of slashy that way

Of course it is! I really wish I could corner Mychael Urban one day and get the scoop.

Though you know what would be cool? A fic challenge: write a story explaining the strange dynamic between Zito and Mulder ^_~ It could be pretty interesting to see what people come up with.

one of these days they'll realize they're only hurting me themselves.

From: [identity profile] oakchick75.livejournal.com

danny's blog ... huston came over and apologized!! this boy is TOO MUCH.

the orioles/indians game ... what a ride!! for awhile i thought it was going to be a sloppy loss and then alluvasuddenwhatthehell 7run inning. and 2 indians pitchers leaving with an injury and starter having some kind of medical trouble that his teammates wouldnt let the cameras see (which i thought was sweeeet) and the announcers are all "we gotta respect his privacy" and "we dont wanna speculate" and the cameras kept trying to get good angles, and we get told its a blood sugar thing.

From: [identity profile] ayrdaomei.livejournal.com

JJ's diabetic, and I remember there was a minor hullabaloo a few years ago when he was an Oriole, because he collapsed during a Spring Training practice. He talks pretty openly about it, and it's kind of interesting all the extra considerations a player with that condition has to keep in mind in order to stay well.

From: [identity profile] ayrdaomei.livejournal.com

No. Why do people keep asking me about the O's? I don't care, seriously. I am indifferent to their wins, and I am, at most, amused by their losses. With the exception of MelMo and Bruce Chen, they can seriously take a flying fuck at a rolling donut.

At the very least, my brother was happy for you (for them) last night. During our horrendously frustrating 8th inning, he kept looking at the out-of-town scoreboard and saying, "But the Orioles are doing well. Be happy for Myr." Then I said, "I think she kinda hates them now." He was distressed. I think he feels sort of bonded to you because he played with Baltimore in that video game one season. ;-) But I say root for whomever you'd like!

I'm glad he went to the game with me last night. We had fun for most of it. :-)

Awwwwww! I'm sorry I distressed him, but I can't help it :(

Thank you! Someone who's been paying attention! :-P

Don't worry...he'll get over it. ;-) I'll tell him you'll just have to find something new to bond over. Hey, he lived in Miami for five years...the Marlins should work.

Thank you! Someone who's been paying attention! :-P

Yes, ma'am. :-)

Did you see my post from last night? When you get the chance, go read, and watch the videos I linked to. Beautiful, I tell you. *smites bullpen* And comment. Because your comments make my day. :-)

From: [identity profile] ayrdaomei.livejournal.com

Will do! I'm actually supposed to be working (>.>), so my friends page hasn't been checked, but I will when I get back to campus. I should get on with that whole "research" thing, I suppose.

I'll tell him you'll just have to find something new to bond over. Hey, he lived in Miami for five years...the Marlins should work.

Yay! There you go :-P I don't have so much baggage with the Marlins; it's fun to root for them.

Good idea. Andy will still be beautiful later. :-) Good luck with the research!!

I tuned in around the 8th, and set the vcr to record for another 2 hours JUST IN CASE the Indians made a comeback and hilarity ensued.

I am pretty much the worst Orioles fan ever.

From: [identity profile] caruso.livejournal.com

I was flipping between the Tigers pregame and the Indians/Orioles, and I turned it back to see JJ sitting on the bench eating a cookie. Man, I kind of freaked out until I was reassued he was okay. That's scary stuff, when you don't know what's going on.

Also, whatever that .asf thing is, I can't play it :(

From: [identity profile] ayrdaomei.livejournal.com

.asf files play in WMP, do you not have that on your comp? The other thing you can do is dl the mac version of bsplayer; I'm pretty sure they make one.

Or you can wait til Bri gets a chance to upload her clips; I think her program rips in avi.

Part of me wants to start re-watching Lost just so I can "converse" with Danny (ie, comment on his blogs), but then I'm like, No, that show sucks. The other part of me wants to comment and say, You know, I really don't care about Lost. Talk to me about baseball, goddammit! But then, it's cute how all those guys hang out together to watch that show. I wonder if they'd be into Battlestar Galactica if we showed it to them.

Thanks SO MUCH for posting that BDSSP clip! I turned on the tv too late because I thought it started at 10:30. (I have satellite tv, so apparently nothing comes on when they say it will come on, except for baseball.) I was so pissed, it almost ruined my night, because I was doing absolutely nothing while the show was ACTUALLY on at 9:30. (I think I was watching some weird comedy show on the BBC which made absolutely no sense to me.) I love seeing our A's not playing baseball - they are totally funny, interesting people. I think I would like them less if they gave monotone, one-word answers.

From: [identity profile] ayrdaomei.livejournal.com

The other part of me wants to comment and say, You know, I really don't care about Lost. Talk to me about baseball, goddammit!

Hee, you should! Or ask him questions! I get the feeling he would totally be up for answering questions, and he pads his posts with this Lost stuff cause he's not entirely sure what we want to hear.

But then, it's cute how all those guys hang out together to watch that show. I wonder if they'd be into Battlestar Galactica if we showed it to them.

Ahahaha. Dan seems a fan of the whole Lost mythology, so BSG is a show he'd enjoy, I imagine. I don't know about the others. Maybe Huston could get into the religious dialogue. Zito would get into the whole exploration of the human condition :-P And Rich? I have no idea; I don't really have any sense of him. Maybe he'd just tune in for Six ^_~

I love seeing our A's not playing baseball - they are totally funny, interesting people. I think I would like them less if they gave monotone, one-word answers.

It really helps that many of the A's are clearly pretty comfortable in an interview setting, which really goes a ways in giving you a sense of them as people. You see so many guys on Cold Pizza or what have you, and they can do little more than laugh nervously and spout cliches, you know?

[Bad username or site: rickenbacker / @ livejournal.com] managed to get the show on her dvd recorder, so she's ripped it. She says she'll upload the clips after work; I can hook you up with linkage then. (Or you could just check over in her LJ later - she has a handful of caps up now, in an unlocked post I think.)

From: [identity profile] roxybritain.livejournal.com

Nice! I would love it if I can see the segment. It will make up for me not being able to watch the game tonight.

I don't want to start watching Lost again, but dude! I would LOVE to get them into BSG. How I would do that, I don't know. Buy the dvds and mail them to the clubhouse? Hmm. (Hey, do you think Rich is more of a Six or a Starbuck kind of guy? The hot chick or the tough chick? Hmm... things to ponder.)

I think I more enjoy seeing pairs or groups of A's in interviews rather than just one, and not just for the obvious pleasure of seeing more than one, but because it's fun to see them interact. I think the best tv moment so far (not an interview) was after the back-to-back-to-back homers when they showed Swish and Bradley doing their "special handshake." Yeah, that was priceless :)

From: [identity profile] ayrdaomei.livejournal.com

Most all I know about Rich is he grew up playing hockey, and there was that piece about him having trouble with baseball because he couldn't figure out a way to channel his aggression on the diamond. So maybe he'd be a Kara guy, drawn to her toughness and all that jazz ^_~

i was really surprised to see that both haren and wright had updated again, in the same day. kind of suspicious. i love haren's, very nice and full of info, and i like wright's too, because it's like...written perfectly (i definitely have a thing with that). which goes back to your theory that it has to be an intern writing it. did he really print out everyone's suggestions for his blog? probably not. oh well, i'd call him (or the intern) on it but i'd probably just end up saying that the astros rule, mets drool and then that wouldn't be very nice.

wow i'm wordy today. sry.

From: [identity profile] ayrdaomei.livejournal.com

i was really surprised to see that both haren and wright had updated again, in the same day. kind of suspicious.

Hee. I think they were nudged; the mlb.com splashpage was running an anniversary thing earlier this week about how the blogs had started a year ago. The player blogs were featured prominently in the anniversary image, so I would bet MLB was like, "uh, guys could you update? thanks." Dan wrote his on Tuesday it looks like, though it wasn't posted until yesterday, and I think David's was written Tuesday too, the reference to the Braves series notwithstanding.

did he really print out everyone's suggestions for his blog? probably not.

I doubt it, only because when I last checked, there were something like 400 responses to his post asking people to come up with names for his blog. If he looks at the suggestions at all, I'll imagine it'll be 'cause he had someone from the public relations office compile all the selections into a shorter print-out that he could carry with him in his travel-on or whatever.

oh well, i'd call him (or the intern) on it but i'd probably just end up saying that the astros rule, mets drool and then that wouldn't be very nice.

lol, no.

tee hee

I watched Lost for a season and a half, and sorry, but I was much less impressed with season 2 than season 1. The mood of the show just changed, you know? I loved how season 1 focused on character study and development, and the nature of humanity under duress. Then when they brought the new people in and started actually showing us "the others," things got all weird. The show went in a direction I wasn't interested in.
(You guys should watch Battlestar Galactica on the SciFi Channel. It's a really good show. And no, I'm not a scifi nerd. I'm very big on character study. I teach English, you see.)
Okay, just so I sound like less of a weirdo for actually trying to talk about Lost... I'm very excited for this baseball season. I think the A's are going to accomplish big things, and I can't wait to see how everything unfurls...
Best of luck, and take care,
Thu

Except you forgot to add:

PS - Where are Bobby and Rich living this year if not with Huston? SOME OF US NEED TO KNOW THESE THINGS.

haha. Maybe you should post that. We should also ask for a map and directions while we're at it =P

Also, Dan, stop making me feel bad for having abandoned Lost like a certain Chalupa Valley mutt was abandoned by his father.

you are so awful. Michael needs your love right now, not ridicule. :(

Also, a Jose blog > David blog, clearly. Or maybe David needs a peek at !David's LJ to see what the people REALLY WANT. :D

Hahahahahahhaha. His head would explode. Either from anger or from shock at how many things you got right, I'm not sure ^_~

From: [identity profile] roxybritain.livejournal.com

I just saw your comment to Danny Haren :) :) :) I wonder if he actually reads his comments. It would be cool if he responded, or if in his next blog he said, I got a couple of suggestions to watch BSG, so I did, and it was totally cool...

From: [identity profile] ayrdaomei.livejournal.com

Ha! If he said that, I would die laughing. I can't really imagine that he wouldn't read comments, since he doesn't get near as many as someone like Wright, where it just seems like it would be kind of a hassle. But who knows?

From: [identity profile] roxybritain.livejournal.com

Yeah, maybe he skims through most of them, and then actually reads ones that catch his eye. Hopefully ours :)
