+ This article on the outlook for the Marlins this year is so depressing! Could the Marlins be one of the worst teams in modern baseball history? Professional handicapper Andy Iskoe certainly thinks so. “They may not win 50 games,” he says. “They are going to be a horrible team this year.” Aww. **roots for them** Heh, finally. A team I can't really jinx.

+ So managers are dropping out of the WBC now? o.O

+ I was all "whine, whine, whine, stop taking pics of Pettitte!" And the AP was like "Okay." **proceed to take 300 pics of Bagwell** Bastards. Speaking of, he's lost weight too, yeah?

+ What nationality is reflected in this alphabetic soup?

"Polish," Mientkiewicz said. "And I'm a little upset that this World Baseball Classic doesn't have a Polish team."

By any name, these new Royals are counted upon to seal up the right side of the infield.

"For at least six months," Mientkiewicz said.
-- Grud, Mientkiewicz spell defense in KC. LOL. Stop making me laugh, Douglas.

+ Hello, Stranger. Can't decide if I'm kinda rooting for Scotty to make the team or what. I do kinda miss the old "Scott Erickson was on the mound last night.... He also pitched" cracks. Cause I'm 12.

Bri: [Bad username or site: phantom_hpuff / @ livejournal.com] slid this my way, having grabbed it from [Bad username or site: avaio / @ livejournal.com], if I remember correctly. It's not much, but hey. Perhaps it's best to start small and work up to that first shot of him with the white script across his chest ^_~

I read an article that said Mikey was gonna be Cabrera's protection in the line-up. LOL, oh man. And aww, he's changed his number. 17, instead of 27.

SHAVE, BARRY.

I'm such a fan of all the scenic shots we're getting out of AZ.

Um, in the words of Ariel - What do you suppose....?

where'd you find those photo day pictures? i've yet to see any of the tigers :P

From: [identity profile] ayrdaomei.livejournal.com

They haven't been released yet; just keep an eye on the Yahoo Gallery, that's where the Braves, Phillies, Yanks and Mets have shown up so far.

From: [identity profile] ayrdaomei.livejournal.com

Oh, and Getty, 'cause Yahoo's crediting them as Getty images and I know I saw some Cubs on Getty who weren't in the Yahoo Gallery. :-P

:-/ Yeah, it's pretty harsh. And it is a tough division. But you never know, man.

From: [identity profile] jaredsexual.livejournal.com

exactly.

I keep thinking of all the people who thought Loria was nuts when we signed Pudge in 2003. Look what happened. :\

Though, I think Joe Girardi is being a little....optimistic. "We're here to win a world series." Dude, that's like...jinxing it. Even moreso. :\

From: [identity profile] ayrdaomei.livejournal.com

Yeah, I'm not sure what to think of Girardi's statements - because yes, on the one hand, no one is giving these guys a shot to do anything this year, so he wants to set some expectations and not have the guys get too down, I get it. But at the same time, you can be realistic about the situation. To say that team was to put together to win a world series is downright ridiculous. He could just say they're all major league ballplayers and they're gonna go out there and show the league what they can do and if people want to underestimate them, it's at their own risk, you know?

*nod nod*

maybe the yankee credo is just too ingrained. :P

must.remind.myself.im.broke. and goingtocollege.

Maybe you should chop up those credit cards right now, and then wait a week to call in for replacements :-P

From: [identity profile] avaio.livejournal.com

it's a shame they don't go ST in kc, cause, i'd be right with you making a run for kauffman.

oh yeah, loved the cactus shot. and it looks like if Z has to field his position they're in trouble.

but mostly - omg. grudzieinblue.

Aww. **roots for them** Heh, finally. A team I can't really jinx.

Except for the first series of the season, right? And if you do root for them then, please do it quietly. ;-)

I'm such a fan of all the scenic shots we're getting out of AZ.

Yeah, they're pretty awesome. Make me nostalgic for when my family used to go watch the Rockies in Tucson (my grandparents used to winter there). Didn't have any singing ball players, though!

**yawns** Journal symposium today. I just wanna sleep, ma!

*laughs* Yeah, journal symposia are not the most stimulating of events!

Aww, I don't know :-P Maybe I'll be Switzerland.

Do what you want, but Roy would be sad if you were rooting against him. ;-) At least John will be rooting for the Astros, and he lived in Miami for five years. (Part of that is because he knows [livejournal.com profile] booksandbasebal and I would hurt him otherwise!)

From: [identity profile] avaio.livejournal.com

I got that picture from [livejournal.com profile] baseball_angel, by the way. But *squeeeee*

And I would cheer for a polish team. Just 'cause.
