I hate, hate, hate trying to tell people how to do their job, but the clerk at the post office this morning insisted that because my packages were so light, they only needed .39 of postage each and I just wanted to shake her. Please, please believe me, before the postage increase, they cost me at least .49c a package to post, usually .60c, they cannot possibly now cost me less. But the power was out at the post office on Saturday so there was a line of people already and I had to get to class and she was very sweet but she was pretty sure she hadn't missed anything. Just. ARGH. She promised when there was a break in the rush of customers she'd have someone double-check and make sure she hadn't shorted me. I left her .75 cents to cover the extra 20-odd cents in postage I'm sure she's gonna have to add to the three packages, but I just wish I'd had the time to politely insist she have it double-checked in front of me. Now I'm just gonna worry about getting these back in the mail. Damn the man.
But in less frustrating news: Paul Rusesabagina is coming to speak at William & Mary! I am continually impressed by the kind of speakers the undergrad Activities Board gets to come here. He's speaking on Jan 23rd at 8pm; I wouldn't miss Kiefer for much, but I'll definitely miss him for this. School peeps - tickets are free with student ID, and we can pick them up at the UC info desk starting the 17th.
Also, why does LJ want to timestamp this post for 2:18 in the afternoon? Fucking Mondays, I swear.
ETA: And Alex is definitely not playing in the WBC. You know what, good for him. Because as lame as I thought his decision not to play was, it was his decision. And it's one thing for me to not have any respect for his reasons and for him pulling out, but I think it's another thing entirely for the union, the guys that are supposed to be in his corner, to just be like "Yeah, whatever Alex, you will play, and here's who you're gonna play for." Because, jokes aside, what the hell is that?
