Did my shelf reading hour in the library to tunes on my trusty old walkman.  I may have gone through 3 or 4 discmans, but I've had the same walkman since 96 or so...  There was this totally crap late 90s radio mix in there.  I was greatly amused and I'm glad no one was studying by the state reporters because I was getting down.

Curious as to who can place any of the songs (if it's stricken, it's already been correctly placed). [Bad username or site: schnaucl / @ livejournal.com] is exempt, by reason of her self-proclaimed uncoolness ;)

  • I feel like I've been locked up tight / for a century of lonely nights / waiting for someone to release me (okay, this is crazy obvious)

  • Do I have to grab the back of your neck / to make you listen to me? ($10 says no one places this one)

  • From the coast of Ipanema to the island of Capri / all the way to Kuala Lumpur / I will follow you wherever you may be / From the moment I first saw you / knew my heart could not be free... (Oh, the great Latin invasion of '99.  Good times.)

  • I've tried to hide it so that no one knows / but I guess it shows when you look into my eyes / what you did and where you're coming from / I don't care... (I think when I'm 50, I will still know all the words to this song. And that is so pathetic.)

  • Real sweet faces, every single nation / Spanish, Haitian, Indian, Jamaican / Black, White, Cuban or Asian / I only come for 2 days of playing, but every time we come / I always wind up staying

  • if somehow you knew that your love would be untrue / would you lie to me / and call me baby? (There are like, three lines in this song that don't end in "me" or "baby".  I'm not even kidding.)

  • what could a guy like me ever really offer? / she's perfect as she can be / why should I even bother? (I actually own this guy's cd.  I bet his own mother doesn't own his cd.)

  • it's a hot one / like seven inches from the mid-day sun / I hear your whisper and your words melt everyone / but you stay so cool.... (If 'overplayed summer hit' was an entry in the dictionary, it would say e.g. this song)

  • everywhere I go / every smile I see / I know you are there / smiling back at me

  • all you people can't you see? can't you see? / how your love's affected our reality? / everytime we're down / you can make it right...

  • every time I look at you / my heart is jumping / what can I do? (okay, hint: Melissa Joan Hart)

  • it's undeniable that we should be together / and unbelievable how I used to say that I'd fall never (Um, hint: this was covered by Mark Wills and was a big country hit for him.  Ha, no one listens to country but me, so that was no help at all, was it?)

  • i was lying on the grass / on sunday morning of last week / indulging in my self-defeat...

Mambo #5 was on there, but I have no idea what that guy is saying, so I couldn't very well give you a lyric.  And then the other side of the tape was Sisqo premiering Unleash The Dragon on 92 Q.  Hilarious.  I don't even like Sisqo like that.  What the hell.

I really need to get my discman fixed.

Ew, what's up with the new update page format? I keep hitting 'spell check' instead of 'save entry'.
