I know I've been posting polls like they just discovered the technology yesterday. I don't know why, but I think I'll blame Jeff. I didn't used to care what you guys thought about stuff ^_~ The LJ peeve results were interesting. Only two people referenced lj-cuts (one anti cuts, the other pro :-P), WORD on the pointlessness of telling me where you've crossposted something (even though I've done that; I've never known why I was doing it, I'm just a lemming), and on the obnoxiousness of people pretending they don't know if a post is okay or not when they know it isn't and telling the mods they can delete it if they want. And yes, for the love of God people, would it kill you to put margin stretching memes behind a cut? I had quite a few peeves in common with other people, which made me feel a little better about myself...but my big three or so peeves didn't make a showing, so I guess I am kind of petty and anal ^_~ But [Bad username or site: jchalo / @ livejournal.com], I'm so sorry! I totally do that all the time :-P
[Poll #572448]
And just in case you were hedging up there for some reason....
[Poll #572449]
I'm not having the best week ever :-/ Bad things keep happening to me. Bad expensive things. But as the greatvirgin man once said, one can only take comfort in the general hostility and unfairness of the universe. It would suck so much worse if I knew these things kept happening to me because I deserved them.

Derek Jeter Is Always Getting Hit Love.
[Bad username or site: lisabird / @ livejournal.com] linked to it, and I actually laughed out loud. Though technically, the second and third images are from when he dislocated his shoulder sliding into third... Not that I've seen footage of that incident a dozen times or anything.Or thought it was really sweet how Torre slipped his hands under Derek's head to keep it off the ground.
I was watching the Bos/A's highlights this morning and I realized I forgot
toughcookie181's birthday. Happy belated, duckie! I hope it was a good one - the O's and A's sucking aside :-P

;-D
To be honest, the poll thing is only a recent development on my own part too, and I am unsure as to why. But I enjoy it a lot.

And yay, polls. Though I do wish Eljay notified you when someone has taken your poll, since I really only check the results for a couple days afterwards.

I mean, it's all, by its very nature, OOC behavior. But if you're writing, say, Jeter, you shouldn't be writing him as some huge angry macho man, and if you're writing, say, Kyle Farnsworth, you shouldn't make him girly and tender. You know? And there are CERTAIN PEOPLE who write their characters WAY too girly, and not in the funny A-Rod or Jeter way. And this makes me furious. For absolutely unfathomable reasons, but I guess that's why it's a pet peeve.

Yes! Nothing takes me out of a story quicker than a characterization that rings false or that I just can't buy. Because we don't know them, but you do get a sense of them with all the media that's available now. And the girly thing bothers me too. Masculinity and homosexuality aren't mutually exclusive.

Awwww.
*picks out her most blatantly lustful Jeter icon*
Oh yeah, and I always thought people told where they crossposted icon posts to so that if you were in more than one of those communities, you'd know it was the same icons and you could skip over their post in the other places. Maybe I just have the memory of a goldfish, but that's how I've used it anyway.

I am entirely amused that you have like 3 Jeter icons from the same picture. Did you ever watch the UK Coupling? I am reminded of Steve and his, um, comfort pillow :-P

I guess, but I've always figured in that case you either can see the teasers and realize it's the same icons, or just derive from the fact that you're seeing the same name in a few places in the same day or whatever that they're posting the same stuff as elsewhere. Especially since most everyone will put the post's contents in the subject line anyway. Whatever, it's not like God's gonna kill a kitten every time someone crossposts which is why it only raises to the level of being a pet peeve :-P

I am SO relieved that you noticed this too. I didn't want to be the only one.
p.s. I like polls. Keep 'em coming. :D

**laughs** Yeah, I wasn't going to say anything, because I have a friend who is convinced that I have a deepseated crush on Jeter, and I didn't want to give him more fuel for that fire...but yeah. Come on, people. You can't get these things by us.
p.s. I like polls. Keep 'em coming. :D
As you wish ^_~
