Saw Final Destination 3 last night with my friend Ambrose. Fun times. If you liked the first one and the second one, you'll enjoy this one. Morgan & Wong deliver on the same basic formula they have in the past, with about five times as much gore as the first film. If you enjoyed the subtlety of the first film, but thought the second film was over the top, you probably want to wait for the video on this one.

I like going to the movies with Ambrose because he'll tell me what's going on when I throw my fingers over my face and turn away from the screen, as opposed to my brother who's always like "just watch the damn movie!" This one grossed me out a little (could we have brought the brain matter down a notch?) but didn't scare me anywhere near like the first film did. I remember walking out of the first movie and rushing to my car, and then rushing home, and then just wanting to crawl under a blanket and NEVER COME OUT BECAUSE OMG OUTSIDE IS WHERE THINGS WILL KILL YOU. The great thing about the first film is how simple and quick and "never saw it coming" all the deaths were. I walked around for a week after I saw the first film really freaked out about doing ANYTHING, because in my mind's eye, I could just imagine how that would set into motion a chain of events that ended up with me dead :-P The second and third films are just as much on the shriek factor, since they follow the same basic formula, but because TPTB wanted "bigger" death sequences, I think the second and third films just aren't as much of a mindfuck. And besides, I suppose nothing's gonna be like the first time anyway. But the acting is okay, the chemistry between the leads is pretty decent, and there's no unnecessary bullshit sideplot, all of which pleased me. Everyone knows it's about trying to make it through this thing alive, and that's the only thing the movie spends time on. I'm really glad I saw this without having seen any of the promo spots, because the tv ads are hella spoilery. That's so fucking annoying.

At any rate, I don't own any of the Final Destination films, but I imagine a trilogy ("thrillogy"?) set will be released when this one hits stores, so if that's reasonably priced, I may pick that up.

All the trailers were lame (Running Scared, Stay Alive, Take The Lead, The Hills Have Eyes - oh Emilie. What the fuck?) except MI: III but I'd seen that one before.

While I was waiting for Ambrose, a bunch of people got tickets for Curious George. Um, I kinda want to see that. Don't tell anyone.

Sox fans, any thoughts on this Game Six movie? **laughs** Movies about how cursed the Sox are? So two years ago :-P But you know I'm there, right? This looks like sort of a For Love of the Game deal where the movie's not so much about baseball as other stuff, but I actually liked For Love of the Game and I'll probably enjoy this, too.

Talked to my dad yesterday. Says they're expecting six to twelve inches of snow in Maryland later today. Don't look now, but that same storm system is supposed to drop at least an inch on us! I haven't seen fresh snow in ages. (Good luck to those of you in New England - this is supposed to be a bitch of a late winter storm, I hear.)

I also ran into this guy I used to work with at the NLRB. That was great. I kept meaning to send the office a card or something, and I never did, because I suck like that. But it was nice to see him, and he filled me in on recent developments in the office and how he hates like, everyone. **laughs** Fun times.

Behind on:
-- L Word (3x4 and 3x5)
-- BSG (Epiphanies, Black Market, Scar, Sacrifice)
-- Supernatural (Faith, Nightmares, The Benders)
-- The Office - US (Boys and Girls, Valentine's Day)
-- Smallville (Reckoning)
-- 24 (1:00PM to 3:00PM)

I was thinking the other day: I really miss Deadwood. And Tv.com has a splash page advertising that Justice League: Unlimited is back - with an episode about Flash ^_^ That warms my fangirly heart. I'm glad they know what brings all the boys to the yard :-P
