+ Local news story video via Kpix.com - stream // download. Words from Frank Thomas, Street, and Swish. DAMN IT PEOPLE, WHERE IS MY ZITO SWOONING OVER DAN FOOTAGE?
+ Dan's part of the postgame conference is downloadable here. Or you can stream it here.
+ Marco and Eric taking questions at the postgame conference is downloadable here. Or you can pull up the postgame conference on mlb.com - the boys come in at the 14:40 mark. Chavvy is a charmer - "This is one of the least talented teams I've ever been on." Oh Eric, you're such a smooth talker!
+ Very short presser with Rich here. Or you can stream it at mlb.com.

And belatedly, some post Game 1 stuff with (a fully dressed) Z at his locker - download.

That's all I got. And despite bouncing about all excited about it this morning, I totally forgot about the premiere of BSG earlier tonight. **face-palms**

Also, people who defriend fans of opposing teams because their friends are happy to see their team win? Make me laugh. Especially when it's a Yankees fan. News flash: With rare exception, you guys are damn near insufferable to the rest of us for 8 months out of the year. And you can't take someone else on your f-list being excited about their team for 2 hours?

And I love the faith it shows in your squad. Dear God, I hope the Tigers kill the Yankees tomorrow. With apologies to you only, [Bad username or site: sensefille / @ livejournal.com], because practically every other Yankee fan I know of makes me want to beat my head into a wall. You guys, I know I joke about going over to the dark side, but if it ever really happens? If I ever start to turn? Kill me. Don't let me become one of them. **spits in palm** Deal? I am trusting you with my immortal soul.

God rest Buck O'Neil. I remember someone asked after him while we were at the Negro Leagues Museum in KC, and the gentleman at the giftshop said Buck had been poorly for some time. A couple days ago someone posted to the baseball comm that he'd taken a turn for the worse, so I guess I knew it wouldn't be long, but to be honest, I wasn't thinking about him much at all. I had meant to keep him in my thoughts.

I know he'll get into the Hall eventually, but I'm saddened he never got to give an induction speech all his own.

1. My download of BSG 3.01 is done but my download of 3.02 is craaaaaawling. **laughs** So cruel! And yet, I deserve little less, I suppose, than to sweat over this a bit. I'm such a bad, bad fan to such a good, good show.

2. Barry's update last night kinda killed me where I live. I thought I was done where he started talking about what it meant to him, seeing Dan on the mound for them in this game. And then he mentioned feeling the absence of Mark and Huddy and my God. I'm not a stone. All I can say, and keep saying, is that I am so, so, so excited for this team, and I'm so, so happy for those of you who have been following the A's for more than 5 minutes. I honestly feel like my face might crack in half soon, I cannot stop smiling to myself, and if seeing them advance has turned me into some kind of human helium balloon, I can't even imagine what the rest of you must be feeling. After hearing about Buck, I was kinda brought back to earth for a little while but mostly I was up until 5:30 this morning just being ridiculously happy about the Tigers and the A's winning last night.

3. I know a couple people weren't able to see the Twins-Oak game yesterday, so I ripped some clips. The first three are asf, the rest should be wmv. I've tested a few of them and they worked fine so I didn't test all of them. Lemme know if you have problems, so I can take the file down. The story so far... )

"And the bat, like the psyche of Alex Rodriguez, lying shattered out there near third."

That's so wrong. Wrong and unnecessary, I say! But hilarious.

And now they're talking about Joey Harrington; they're killing me. "I think Yankee fans see a little Joey Blueskies in Alex Rodriguez."

Trudged through the rain to hear Justice O'Connor speak this afternoon. I didn't mind missing baseball for that - it was a very cool experience. I'm really gonna miss this about school - having such interesting speakers pretty much dropped in my lap. She was here to sit on a panel discussing freedom of religion and the establishment clause. She was remarkably accessible, I thought. She passed on a question about gay marriage, but otherwise she was pretty lively and entertaining. I almost didn't go - it's been pouring rain here for two days - but it was worth it.

My BSG 3.02 download is 86% complete! whooooo.

Congratulations to the Detroit Tigers! You guys throw one hell of a celebration, lol. Congratulations to [Bad username or site: offspeed / @ livejournal.com] especially, who believed from the beginning, despite my best efforts to temper her enthusiasm early on. (What can I say? I thought I was being a good friend.)

It's gonna be a hell of an LCS! I know the network heads are crying in their bitters, but fuck 'em - for fans, what a great matchup this is. **laughs** One of these teams is gonna have to out-scrap the other. It'll be a heartbreaker when the dust settles, but it's gonna be a great series, I can tell.

(And I'm sorry, but I can't stop cracking up at the thought that six years after he left us, he still doesn't have his ring. I was never one of those people who passionately didn't want him to win with the Yanks, but I am definitely one of those people who derive some amusement from the fact it hasn't worked out like he planned. He'd still leave us, given the choice, a hundred times over and I don't blame him. But he went to New York, specifically, for a reason and six years later, he doesn't have a ring. And that amuses me.

Pay attention, Barry. This is important.)

[Bad username or site: angisageek / @ livejournal.com], the text of the Grady article is here. Apologies for the quality - the ESPN pages are overlarge and I couldn't figure out how to fit to page on the scanner. Seriously, don't even ask me why my parents have spent so much money on my education when I can't even figure out the buttons on an all-in-one.
