+ I can't quite put my finger on it, but at some point in watching episode 1x09 of The Mentalist, I was struck by the realization that I like and am starting to feel invested in the supporting cast. This makes me happy, since Lord knows I don't really watch this show for the cases.
I love the scene that has the whole unit in the hotel room with the injured Rigsby. Jane's (somewhat intriguing) discomforted smile, Van Pelt tending to Rigs' arm, Lisbon bringing by a bottle of "that mango crap" he likes. Most of all, I love the familiarity of Cho reaching down before he leaves to [man love] tap Rigs' bare foot. I mean really, would you touch the feet of just anyone you knew? He easily could have tapped him on the pants. I don't slash Cho and Rigs (not yet, anyway :P), but they were the first part of the team to grow on me (especially with the joint and quick refusal to return the expensive watches Jane bought them in the Vegas ep) and I'm starting to adore their tag-team dynamic.
Cho pulling the mech's hair made me snerk (although I rolled my eyes at them considering him a suspect at all - a year is a long time for no one to have noticed a resemblance if he were Dave Martin, and there was no reason to think Dave Martin had the money for plastic surgery). Grace's embarrassed reaction to Rigs' drug-induced confession was completely and utterly endearing. I still wish she'd get a specialty of some kind (although it seems she's got some background in cars and dressing wounds), but despite myself and quite surprisingly, she's growing on me. She also won points for reacting to put out Rigsby's flaming arm before anyone else. Lisbon doesn't even annoy me any more. When did that happen?
It's just nice to no longer have to hold out hope that the rest of the team will kick the bucket :P
I've also graduated to fic for the show - just Palm, Switch, Steal so far. It's short, but good. Spoilers for 1x10 if you haven't watched that yet.
+ God rest Eartha Kitt. She had a long and brilliant career as an entertainer in several mediums, but I loved her most of all as Yzma in Disney's The Emperor's New Groove. (If you've never seen that, you're missing out. It is hilarious. I haven't seen it in about a year, so it's due for a re-watch.)
+ Saw The Spirit with [Bad username or site: johnnybvo / @ livejournal.com]. I laughed a lot, mostly at it, but occasionally with it. It was really weird, you know, humor-wise? Like Snakes On A Plane weird, although I'm guessing, since I didn't see that movie. It was...I don't know, just really over the top - most often when Sam Jackson was on screen. It had its moments but I wouldn't recommend it. [Bad username or site: johnnybvo / @ livejournal.com] liked it, although he agrees it's a weird movie. So, make of that what you will. Before the film, we got several crappy trailers. Two of them were for slasher flicks, and what do you know, Jared was in one (um, Jason 13 or some such) and Jensen in the other (My Bloody Valentine, I think). So that was kinda amusing, and kinda sad.
+ My mom straightened my hair this morning :/ I'm really perfectly fine with people not taking hot irons to my head, but she was very keen to. I don't know why some people are so concerned about how I wear my hair.

Seriously, me too. I won't let anyone near my head with anything hot. I got burned when I was a kid. :P

Yeah, I'm not a fan of straightening my hair, because it involves the use of a ton of chemicals, or heat-damaging my hair, in order to accomplish that effect :/ Plus the feel of hair against my neck tends to bother me.
