there i've done it. there i've said it. there you have it.

I realize I have like 2.5 country fans on my f-list, but I was just in a 90s country mood. So I uploaded a bunch of stuff to YSI; it's beneath the cut. Mostly slow, sad stuff from Patty Loveless, Shania, Pam Tillis, and the like, because they have such an ear for great songs and voices to really do them justice. I don't know why I like listening to songs that make me want to cry...but sometimes I get in that kind of mood.

Shannon, it may amuse you to know that in my mind, Home Ain't Where His Heart Is (Anymore) has become subtitled as Jana's Song :-P Michael Cole Mussina, you bastard.

But first, on the occasion of today being MLK day...

Kathy Mattea - Beautiful Fool
Walter Cronkite pre-empted Disney one night / and all us kids were so upset / we thought that you were a trouble instigator / marching through our tv sets

Patty Loveless - I Don't Wanna Feel Like That
I cried myself to sleep last night / and I don't wanna feel like that no more

Shania Twain - Home Ain't Where His Heart Is (Anymore)
He may still come home, but I live here alone / the love that built these walls is gone

Pam Tillis - All The Good Ones Are Gone
Once she had someone who loved her, back when she was younger / now she wonders if she held out a little bit too long / back then there were so many, now there just aren't any / and it seems like all the good ones are gone

Kenny Chesney - If I Lost It
With a hopeful heart I hit one knee / with a tear in her eye she looked at me / it was the moment of truth, I was scared to death / my life hung on what that tear meant

Dixie Chicks - You Were Mine
What right does she have to take you away when for so long you were mine?

Blackhawk - Postmarked Birmingham
a two page letter written on Ramada stationery, dated April 22 / she asked me not to hate her

Kim Richey - If You Don't Mind
There's no way to please you / baby, I know - let's call it a day

Pam Tillis - Let That Pony Run
You do what you gotta do / when you know what you know / you hang on til you can't hang on, then you learn to let go

Patty Loveless - Like Water Into Wine
I can't hate you anymore, baby / I can't love you any less

Diamond Rio - You're Gone
The good news is I'm better for the time we spent together / and the bad news is you're gone

Shania Twain - Raining On Our Love
Was I chasing rainbows, blinded by the sun? / Did I take for granted I'd be the only one?

Patty Loveless - You Don't Seem To Miss Me (feat. George Jones)
Now life's so fast and everything is changing / and if you're changing too, then I don't blame you / I remember how you used to kiss me / but when I'm gone, you don't seem to miss me

Trisha - On A Bus To St. Cloud
you chase me like a shadow, and you haunt me like a ghost / and I hate you some, and I love you some / but I miss you most

Dixie Chicks - Lovin' Arms
If you could see me now / the one who said that she'd rather roam, the one who said she'd rather be alone / if you could only see me now

Shania Twain - Is There Life After Love
You gave me forgiveness, but you could not forget / I should never have told you what I'll live to regret

Pam Tillis - The River & The Highway
And every now and then, he offers her a shoulder / and every now and then, she overflows / every now and then...a bridge crosses over

Jaime Neal - There Is No Arizona
If there was a Grand Canyon / you could fill it up with the lies he told her

Pam Tillis - Mandolin Rain
Listen to the banjo wind, a sad song driftin' low / listen to the tears roll down my face as he turns to go

Dixie Chicks - Cold Day In July
Your bags are packed, not a word is spoken / I guess we said everything with "goodbye"

Kenny Chesney - What I Need To Do
I got the windows rolled down, I got the radio up / I'm doing all I can to get my mind off us / ...what I need to do is turn this car around

Garth Brooks - In Another's Eyes (feat. Trisha Yearwood)
In another's eyes, I'm someone who loves her enough to walk away from you / I'd never cheat, and I would never lie - in another's eyes

The Lynns - Woman to Woman
I think it's time we had a talk / you know exactly who I am and what I want / you seem to be a bit confused by what's yours and what's mine

Sammy Kershaw - Matches
If I find the strength to burn your memory down / at least you left the matches

Martina McBride - Cry On The Shoulder Of The Road
so this is how leaving feels

If anyone has I Didn't Ask (And She Didn't Say) or Don't Mention Memphis off Tim McGraw's All I Want cd...I'd appreciate the uploads. Limewire seems to be crap for any of Tim's older stuff (why? his more recent stuff BLOWS), and my cd is sitting in my room in Maryland, being entirely useless. Thanks, [Bad username or site: kmousie / @ livejournal.com]!

LOL, hilariously enough, guess what was hiding in my Country folder?

Dreamgirls - And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going (Jennifer Holliday)
There's no way I'm livin' without you / I'm not livin' without you, I don't want to be free / I'm stayin', I'm stayin', and you - you're gonna love me

I'm the same way. Sometimes the mood just hits me, and I need to hear sad songs. I snagged quite a few of these. Man I *love* that Diamond Rio song. The video was gorgeous, too.

Was that video black and white? I'm trying to remember it. You know, I've never considered myself a Diamond Rio fan per se, but I can't think of a single of theirs that I didn't like at least for a little while. I love the song they did with Chely Wright, but I don't have it on this computer, unfortunately.

It was black and white. Had the lady in the swimming pool? I love Diamond Rio.

(And, heh, this is a little late, I know. ;))

(**laughs** You really weren't kidding about being behind on comments!)

Awww, country. The music I grew up on. Well, that and Journey. These songs are like a trip down memory lane.

Shannon, it may amuse you to know that in my mind, Home Ain't Where His Heart Is (Anymore) has become subtitled as Jana's Song :-P Michael Cole Mussina, you bastard.

*laughs* That song is quite fitting for Jana, I agree. It's not like Mike meant to fall in love with Tino. It just happened! Damn that Constantino and the sexy Latin lover in him. ;p

Awww, country. The music I grew up on.

Heh, really? Interesting :-P

It's not like Mike meant to fall in love with Tino

Excuses mcnuses, as my bro would say. He's still a bastard. **shakes finger in his general direction**

Aw, I love Cold Day in July. I love most Dixie Chicks actually, despite my staunch non-country position.

[identity profile] ayrdaomei.livejournal.com 2006-01-16 03:24 pm (UTC)(link)
**laughs** I find a lot of anti-country folks make a slight exception for the Dixie Chicks. They're pretty awesome that way. But last I'd heard they had disowned country music, which is a total loss for the entire genre :-/

Oh, old country. How I love it! That's an awesome collection of great songs.

[identity profile] ayrdaomei.livejournal.com 2006-01-16 03:32 pm (UTC)(link)
I seem to go through phases with my music, and it's been a while since I was in a real mood for country, so today has been fun. I'd forgotten how very much I loved some of these songs. I'm glad other people enjoy them too ^_^

[identity profile] piney61.livejournal.com 2006-01-16 03:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Apparently, you're clearly trying to make me rekindle my love of country music which had subsided for a good few years. :P But I guess it coudl be worse.

[identity profile] ayrdaomei.livejournal.com 2006-01-16 04:46 pm (UTC)(link)
**fans dying embers** :-P

How could it be worse? JUST WONDERING. >.> <.< Not that I plan to try anything.

[personal profile] ex_halo669 2006-01-16 03:54 pm (UTC)(link)
yay! I'm grabbing most of these-- they fit my mood today perfectly-- thank you :)

Hey, awesome. Enjoy ^_^

Aww, you're welcome sweetheart. You share so much...it makes sense to return the favor once in a while! :-)
