+ Have you seen the clip of General Honore (the man running the military presence in New Orleans) hollering at his troops to lower their "goddamn weapons!" in the presence of civilian refugees?

The little cheer that erupts from the young people sitting on the side of the street is great. It's a difference of degrees, but the nonverbal messages communicated differ dramatically. It's supposed to be a humanitarian mission.

[Bad username or site: jasminelily / @ livejournal.com] tells me that CNN ran the Kayne West clip twice in the span of 30 minutes earlier this morning. Way to be.

This clip from Fox News of Geraldo and Shepard Smith talking about the living conditions on the ground is so...I dunno. Heartbreaking and frustrating.

Rivera:"You can't deny that it's been six days since this diaster befell New Orleans. What has happened since is as bad or worse. I can't understand..."

Late in the clip, Smith starts talking about how insane it is that the government is turning back anyone who tries to leave the deplorable conditions in the convention center.
Fox Host: "I want to get some perspective here--"
Smith: "That IS perspective! That is all the perspective you need!"

Anyway, a lot of people are talking about the conditions now. Talk --> Action would be a thing to see.

+ The boys played solid baseball again last night. Sucks to have lost the season how we did1, but last year the boys won 19 in September and it certainly felt like the momentum carried over into April. Be nice to see them try their luck at that twice.

[Bad username or site: sensefille / @ livejournal.com] took an LJ friends quiz that asked her what my fantasy was. She answered that it was to get a do over on the last two months of the baseball season. She's...not wrong.
I was flipping stations after the game (poor Miggles! last out, again), and I'm pretty sure I just saw Zach getting beheaded by some masked men. Since when is Mark Paul on Over There?

The Trek homage ep of Futurama is on. I don't really do Futurama but this ep is seriously one of my all-time favorite half-hours of television. The part where the actors are being forced to act out Mellvar's Mary Sueish fanfic slays me. And the Riker head's little "Yes!" when he gets to move up on the shelf? Bwa!

"And so Star Trek was scoured from human memory..."
"My. I've never heard of such a brutal and shocking injustice that I cared so little about."
