Notes: If you're like me, be assured that FernGully IS on this list, it's just hella down at the bottom. The Reluctant Dragon is not on this list. I don't know how you include Pete's Dragon and Mary Poppins but omit Bedknobs & Broomsticks (which I'm pretty sure had more animation than either of those other two). Also, some sequels are listed, but many aren't. Inconsistency, boo.

No one asked, but for completeness' sake, I really liked The Lion King 2: Simba's Pride. Not so much any other Disney sequels I've seen besides Down Under (not counting Pixar sequels).

Animated films meme )

eta: Oh, you know what else isn't on the list? That random Little Red Riding Hood movie from a few years back. The one that was hilarious, but kind of ghetto fabulous and really weird? I cannot think of what it was called.

Judge and Sec are not here. You know what that means!

Snurched from [Bad username or site: sdwolfpup / @ livejournal.com]:

Below the cut is Entertainment Weekly's list of the top movies of the last 25 years. Go through their list and BOLD the ones you have seen and underline the ones you own on video or DVD.

I'm adding: Italicize the movies you plan to get around to seeing...at some point.

the great big list )

In what universe is The Bourne Supremacy a better movie than The Bourne Identity? And I wouldn't have put The Bourne Identity on this list. Especially at the expense of a good movie like Dances with Wolves, the omission of which is a joke.

Saw this fun meme while poking around old lj entries, so I'm thieving like a thieving thing. The following links are to clips of the beginnings of 24 different songs. The idea is to see how many you recognize and can identify. Not screening comments, because it's really not that serious.

Individual clips 'neath this cut ) or alternately, you can download this zip (2mb), which contains all the clips. Clips are about 5-8 seconds, which still seems like far too long, but if people find this too easy at 5 seconds, I'll take it down to 1 or 2 next time. If I ever do this again, that is.

Engaged in a bit of retail therapy last week. Some girls buy clothes. Some girls buy shoes. Some girls buy chocolate. I....spent the GNP of a small island nation on old A's magazines >.>

I plan to scan the hell out of them, but scanning/resizing/cropping/uploading kinda takes a while, so it'll probably just be an issue here, an issue there when I need a break from studying/writing papers.

But, for starters:
Alex and Eric Chavez. Alex, like Jamie Kotsay, is cuter in pictures than she seems in live video.
Z and Eric. Gah. Stupid Zito. You're just so...stupid. You ruin everything.
Mark. I think I've seen this scanned before, on Jen's Baseball Page, maybe? But um. Here it is. Again.
Urban Legend: Chavvy missed in many ways. AW. Seriously.
Urban Legend: A's father figure knows best. Okay, in light of all the criticism of Macha since he was fired? This is hilarious. Or sad.
Urban Legend: Will the real Mark Mulder please stand up? If you've read Aces, you're seen these same sentiments expressed before, in the same way. If you haven't read Aces...what's keeping you? Consider this a sample.

Spidey 3 teaser trailer! It will be shown before Superman Returns, so you may want to wait, and get the full effect. I couldn't, but you should know, it's AWESOME.

This story is very interesting to me - Myers granted leave of absence. I know the Phillies have been seriously taken to task on Mike & Mike over their response (or lack thereof) to the Myers situation, but I hadn't heard or read much about it elsewhere. If they have been taking a bunch of flack over this nationally, I'm really glad. I did hear that Brett Myers beat out Ozzie for today's Just Shut Up award, for letting "I'm sorry it got public" be all he had to say about the matter, and I'm glad he's going away from a while. Can one learn to stop being an abusive fucktard in the span of two weeks?

And now that I'm thinking about it, whatever happened with the accusations against Dmitri Young? I remember seeing something about him going into rehab or some such thing. (I suppose I could stop being a lazy cow and google it.)

That baseball meme making the rounds )

For those who make productive use of such information, pics from the A's wives/sig others game feature a young woman in Bobby's jersey. So there, I suppose, is likely your answer why Rich ended up living with Huston again this year, after all ^_~ I'm on board with those who suspect Rich and Bobby had plans to live together, but those fell through early in the season. Poor Rich; the kid can't get any kind of break, on the field or off.
Alright, a music/fandom meme stolen from [Bad username or site: jchalo / @ livejournal.com] because it looks fun:

+ meme: Comment with the name of a character in one of my fandoms, and I'll post you an instant mini-fanmix: 3-5 songs that remind me of that character. I may or may not upload the songs, depending on my mood, but I will probably quote you some lyrics.

+ fandoms: MLB's what I've been most recently concerned with, but have at any of the fandoms listed in ye old sidebox of fandoms there. I'll try to have something up in the next couple of days. And like Halo, I'm amendable to doing a mini-mix for a pairing rather than an individual, if you prefer.

eta: Alright, I'm putting a freeze on this for now, so I can start working on these!

+ I was pretty tired, but the Dave Attell show was fun. He thinks I'm adorable :-P Kris got a big kick out of that. She hadn't wanted to sit down front cause she was afraid he'd be one of those comics who picks on people in the audience. He wasn't, for the most part. Had some fun with the kid in the front row, and then had a little bit of fun with me, but it wasn't meanspirited.

DA: "Any single women here tonight? How about you?" **points** "You're adorable."
Myr, The Oh So Smooth: "Me?"
DA: "Yeah, you got a boyfriend? Got any interest in Tigershark? [insert mildly crude Harry Potter joke I won't repeat here.]"

Tigershark being this dumbass sitting in the back who kept randomly yelling "TIGERSHARK!" during the show. Attell had fun with him, for the most part, just kept whoring him up. Also, Attell gets points for tying both Harry Potter and Stargate into jokes about people's sexual organs, while somehow maintaining the credibility to suggest the heckler was a nerd. He also referenced Josh Holloway which amused me, because I feel like despite the success of Lost, Josh doesn't really have name recognition like that. Pretty different kind of show from the Lewis Black appearance last year (nowhere near the politial content), but still quite funny. He was also kind of random, just sort rambled all over the place. At one point he was like, "Okay, it's been a year. I'm declaring the tsunami funny." And then made a bukake joke and moved on. ....You had to be there, I'm sure :-P

Jasper Redd opened for him. He was pretty funny. He totally gives off this Dave Chappelle vibe. Some racial humor, mixed up with some generally applicable jokes about being broke, and some religious stuff. At one point he was like "Any Mormons here? [Silence from the audience] Good. Fuck 'em." I was glad more of the Law School hadn't shown up. He then went on a mini-rant about the Mormons "photoshoppin' black folks into history", which cracked me up.

I had a really good time, and I'm glad Kris was able to come with. It was nice to laugh so much. Katie was there, too! And a handful of other law school peeps, but we were all scattered.

+ There's an icon meme going around. If you're so inclined...

2) Pick out your very favorite one.
3) Post it in comments. (Right click on it, and select 'copy image location'. Alternately, go to "properties" and copy the location of the image link. Use the <*img src=IMAGEURL> code -- without the * and replacing "IMAGEURL" with the image link location.)

Um...what? I'm sorry. Did a note go out that I don't spend enough time on LJ? Also, how is that even gonna work? Actually, don't tell me. I don't want to know.

+ Summer plans are beginning to get nailed down, so hopefully I'll stop feeling all anti-social and bitchy all the damn time. That would be great.

+ Did you see the reception Team Cuba got when they returned? **laughs** It was like a World Series parade. I love it.

+ Someone on my f-list was looking for Natalie's My Skin yesterday. I didn't make a note of who, and of course, now I can't remember. So I'm just gonna post it here, in case it's still needed: Natalie Merchant - My Skin.

+ Frankenstein music meme, snurched from [Bad username or site: jchalo / @ livejournal.com]. I didn't take the prompts too literally, because I'm difficult that way.
Tracklist: senses ) Oh, don't bother with those, kids. SS has decided to join YSI in being wonky and annoying. **shakes them** Damn you, free services! Why will you not work? **pimp-slaps** Working now. Whoo!

+ [Bad username or site: teenagewildlife / @ livejournal.com] shared some pics of herself as a youngin a few days ago, which reminded me that I had a handful of old pics sitting on my bookshelf. I think I shared some of these before, but my f-list was mostly different at that time, I think.

mini me! )

ETA: Sori totally caved.
+ Man, the Cubans were annoying the everloving shit out of me. I just wanted them to PLAY THE DAMN GAME. Except the Cuban translator. I love the Cuban translator. She could be translating the obits for all the life she shows out there on the field. It's completely hilarious. The announcers spent 5 minutes at one point musing over the haircut El Commandante's son apparently went out and got. Which might lead you to believe it was a boring game, but it was actually really, very awesome. I was half-heartedly rooting for Puerto Rico, so of course they stranded runners left and right. Made it interesting every inning, though. And the guys were so. into. it. It gets me where I live that they're so into games...in March. I mean, Pudge does nothing for me, but the way he slammed his helmet into the ground after he being called out at home trying to tie the game? I approve of that kind of desire to deliver. Try not to be a complete fucking asshole this year, Pudge.

Slept through Korea/Japan. U.S. has a chance to advance now, as Korea remains undefeated. Meh. On the other hand, it's kind of funny to me, since Ichiro was all "Japanese baseball >>>>>> all other Asian baseball." Whoops, guess not.

+ I love that LJ finally really truly gets that all the people want? more userpics. Extra storage space? Who needs that shit. A photo scrapbook? I have photobucket and imageshack for that, thanks. Yet another increase in userpics, just months after the last bump? By George. I do think they've got it. Which really just means I now have more slots for icons I like having in my rotation, even though I rarely ever use them. Which is fine by me.

So, seriously. Ability to edit comments. There's got to be a way. As Mariah once sang.

+ It has been far too long, methinks, since I have seen the poetry meme floating around. I do so love the poetry meme. If you see this, please post a poem you like, either in comments here, or in your own lj.

I seem to have this thing for Eastern European poets )

And/Or: a quote that makes you go hmmmmmmm. I resemble that remark!

For my part, I stumbled across this line from Kafka the other day:

What have I in common with Jews? I have hardly anything in common with myself and should stand very quietly in a corner, content that I can breathe.
– from a letter of January 8, 1914

Tell me about it. Though I would have to substitute ooooh, Americans, Blacks, Arabs, Muslims, Women... ^_~

+ Alright, off to Richmond. Going in early so I can get back for the Housing Lottery. Cross your fingers for me that there isn't some kind of crazy accident on 64 this afernoon.

**laughs** I, too, am intrigued by how freakishly accurate a two question test seems to be. I've changed the coding to get rid of the excess spacing, make clear where I've added my own commentary, and remove the extraneous alternate results and other OKCupid spammage at the bottom.

Navel-gazing, yay! )

ETA: Oh, Chavvy, I mean this in the nicest way possible - you can be something of a bitch. He's looking into playing for Mexico since the US whored him up.

Chavez remains on the provisional roster and, according to U.S. manager Buck Martinez, would be available to replace A-Rod or Jones if a move were necessary.

"You never know, A-Rod could change his mind, and I'd love to play for the U.S.," Chavez said. "But if not, this would be something different, a way to get some quality at-bats in a real competition situation.'
Those of you with an ear for instrumentals and movie/tv scores - do you recognize this piece? It was on one of my mix cds and I cannot for the life of me remember what it's called or where it's from. I thought maybe it was Robert Duncan's Kissed To Life from the seventh season of Buffy but it isn't. Help? The mix was made in late '04, early '05 I believe. But I listen to so much old stuff, I don't know if that's really any kind of tell. Identified by [Bad username or site: scarletumbrella / @ livejournal.com] as 'Alone', off the Spidey 2 soundtrack ^_^

And while we're playing the guessing game...lyrics meme? 20 song lyrics, guess the title and the artist. If it's something that's been recorded by more than one artist, you'll get credit for whomever you offer.

I wonder if anyone would have gotten the Hanson if I'd kept those lyrics here )
I was at a loss for what songs to send [Bad username or site: catslash / @ livejournal.com]'s way, as I have no idea of her musical tastes. So I figured I'd combine my offer to upload stuff for her with this meme snurched from [Bad username or site: sdwolfpup / @ livejournal.com]...

When did LJ add that little "view all userpics" link below our default pic in userinfo? A good move, methinks. I was on lj for almost 2 months before I discovered you could see all your icons by clicking on your default :-P

ETA: For Cyn, 5 of my guilty pleasures:

1. The $1 menu at McDonald's. More specifically, the McChicken sandwich and the cheeseburger. THEY WILL BE THE DEATH OF ME.
2. The amount of time I spend talking baseball rps on AIM with one [Bad username or site: phantom_hpuff / @ livejournal.com]. Entire DAYS of my winter break were spent doing this, with the voice in the back of my head going "Hey, remember that journal note thing you're supposed to be writing? Wanna get on that?" If I put HALF as much energy into my note as I spend on David, Jose and Mike, I'd probably be published 5 times over.
3. Movies in which A enters B's life and changes B for the better, only for us to discover A is not long for this world. Or the relationship falters because of other external forces. I don't own A Walk To Remember or Sweet November or Butterflies Are Free but I can't help but watch them every time I stumble across them on TV. I don't know what happened to me when I went away to college, but I turned into this total sap.
4. The sheer number of what [Bad username or site: johnnybvo / @ livejournal.com] calls the "white like mayo on wonderbread" ballplayers in my harem.
5. I read children's books for kicks. I have a copy of The Chipmunks In: Alvin Goes Wild sitting on my floor right now.

(Every time this meme comes around, I think of Gaiman's 15 Portraits of Despair and that girl who decides to make a list of things that make her happy...and finds the day growing dark around her as she tries to think of more than one thing.)

+ Gates opening 2 hours before first pitch.
+ Family, more or less.
+ Finding a new song I just adore, and listening to it over and over and over again.
+ A good book.
+ Unexpected mail. (Well, unexpected mail from people I'm still in touch with. When I get mail from someone I haven't spoken to in ages, it just makes me feel like an asshole.)
+ Three Witches being back long enough for me to stock up.
+ Thank God I'm A Country Boy during the 7th inning stretch. Also, the confused look out-of-towners get on their faces when we all launch into it. Heh.
+ The rare tv show with a grand, arcing storyline I can get totally caught up in.
+ Quotes. I'm always jotting things down on napkins or in the margins of notebooks, etc.
+ Getting in and staying in an iconing groove. It's not exactly mindless work, but I like fiddling with pictures when I need a break from school stuff. Plus, I've always wished I had an eye for drawing or photography, and I don't - but Photoshop lets me pretend to be something of a composer of images ^_~

+ Man alive, I really am too hormonal for life right now. I just read that the O's are re-assigning Elrod Hendricks (our bullpen coach and the most darling man in uniform I ever had the chance to speak with) because they're worried about his health. Or something. This sucks so bad; I'm gonna cry again. You go to an Orioles game, and rain or shine, there's one guy standing by the dugout signing autographs and chatting with fans - Elrod. Always, always, always. The players come out, and they'll sign for a few minutes and move on with their lives, but #44 would just stand there and sign from not long after the gates opened until just about game-time. It amazed me. I got a chance to talk with him a little after a game in Boston once (a terrible extra-inning loss in which Ryan Kohlmeier blew his first save and we eventually walked in the winning Sox run), and he was so sweet, and for such a shitty loss, it's one of my favorite baseball memories. **sniffles** Anyway. The Orioles suck and I hate them. The end.

2. One that you think I should totally use more often.
3. One that you don't get/needs more explanation/you have no idea why the hell I have it.

Link if you like, or just lemme know which one you're thinking of using my keywords. Actually, I'll alter it a bit: you don't need to do all three of the above, you can just pick one.

Oh, and if you're gonna rec me someone above, let's try for people who don't friends lock? I always feel guilty about asking someone to add me, only for me to lose interest and drop them a week later.

I just saw the first reference to NaNoWriMo on my friends page. Oy. I think it's safe to predict I'll be wimping out on it yet again.

Off day for the O's (thank God), so meme! Snurched from [Bad username or site: shirasade / @ livejournal.com]:

I think it's inevitable that as we read each other's journals we create mental pictures of each other. Post this in your own journal to find out who your friends see when they read about your life.

Two Rules
1. The person must be in the movies or on TV (but doesn't have to be an actor/actress). It can be a specific role (e.g. Jennifer Elhe's Elizabeth Bennet) or just the actor/actress as we know them.
2. Please post a link to a picture of said person in the comments if you feel it would help identify the character. (For example, I can think of at least five completely separate physical representations of Johnny Depp!)

These castings can be based on things in the person's personality or on physical traits you know they have.

I promise not to be offended ^_~

+ Also downloaded and watched Divided We Fall....it was just like the good old days of Justice League. I don't really have much to say about it except everything's better with ample Flash. Especially when he's being a total heroic woobie. And there was some nice stuff for those of us who like the sibling vibe between Shay and Wally.

+ What else is going on with me? That's it. Two Yanks games here at OPCY next week (one with [Bad username or site: sensefille / @ livejournal.com], the other with [Bad username or site: johnnybvo / @ livejournal.com]). Three Red Sox games the weekend before the All Star Break (two with [Bad username or site: cruzalicious / @ livejournal.com]). I'm bound to see at least one win, right?
