CSN Bay Area airs classic A's games, and tonight it's the BoSox & A's. Huddy on the mound for Oakland, Pedro for the Sox. I missed the first two innings, but I think I've narrowed it down to the August 11, 2003 matchup.

Everyone's so young and beautiful ♥ It cracks me up to think this was around the height of my love for the Red Sox. It's almost as fun to see Pedro in Boston gray again as it is to see Markus and Barry in Oakland green, sitting at different ends of the dugout, watching Huddy slice and dice.

**laughs** I remembering finding them REALLY annoying, and generally being anti-AL West baseball at the time. I totally rooted against them in the postseasons of '00, '01, and '03 :X

That is so, so dirty.

You know, I bemoan the fact that I haven't known you all my life. But it's prolly a good thing I didn't meet you in 2003. :P

how do you get to see old games? why no screen caps? I'm JEALOUS!

i wonder how far back the archive on the mlb.tv archive goes...

We got the "sports package" add on to our direct tv programming. It contains a ton of regional sports channels, including Comcast Sportsnet Bay Area. We bought the sports pack in order to get pre-games and post-games (with Extra Innings, you just get the game broadcasts, nothing else), but this is a great bonus :)

I missed a few shots of Mulder and Zito while the dvd player was loading, but I did record the game from the bottom of the second on. Bri finalized the disc this morning, and I think she's trying to make some caps. If she can't, I'll give it ago.

The MLB.tv archive only goes back two seasons, I think - or at least it did the last time I had an mlb.tv account.

you girls are GOOOOD. lol.

yeah, i checked, it goes back to 2006. way past the big three. i was very sadfaced.

[and as far as dreamwidth? i'm happy with lj. but if there's good slash on dreamwidth, that's where i'll go! clearly, i have my priorities straight. hehe]

Understandably so. It's why I treasure my old A's commercials from '04 and earlier! I don't have much Big Three era footage.

If there's good slash to be found, I'm sure Alex will let us all know ;)

I just took down all of the old magazine pictures I had up of the A's from roughly 2001 to 2004. It's kind of incredible to look at those and think of the team then versus the team now .... my tape of a Danny start from 2006 is crazy to watch even though it wasn't too long ago because juuuuuuust about every one of those guys is gone.

I can't imagine watching the 2003 A's. Ooh, I wonder if they'll show the 20th win someday!

That was the first thing that occurred to me when I realized they didn't mean strictly pre-1991s Oakland A's, when they said "classic". I really wish A&E would put out a boxset with the best games from the streak, but I know that won't happen. I'm definitely gonna keep an eye out on these rebroadcasts.

I just cannot picture you having been a Red Sox supporter, much less admitting it publicly. At least you left the nation before it got exponentially obnoxious. :-D

That game took place about a week before Mark's season ended with his femur fracture. Those caps you take would show the last time he was moderately healthy ... :-c

lol, well, actually, I left right when it got exponentially obnoxious. That was pretty much what killed following the Red Sox for me.

:( I was wondering! Because I thought he'd gotten injured at some point in July, and I was surprised to see him so carefree in the dugout.

He did get injured during interleague, either in Philadelphia or Miami, I was never clear on that. They thought he had tweaked something on a badly constructed mound, and the injury was diagnosed as tendinitis. It wasn't until mid-August (in a game against the Red Sox in Boston, actually) that the pain became so severe that he had to leave the game. He was limping as he headed down the steps into the clubhouse, and I have to say that my heart dropped when I saw it. I just knew it would not end well.
